Warriors Vs. Clippers: David Lee, Monta Ellis Lead Golden State To First Half Lead

The Golden State Warriors got their season-opener off to a strong start as they took a 43-41 lead over he Los Angeles Clippers into halftime. The Warriors showed some of the strong defense Mark Jackson has been preaching as they held the much-hyped Clippers offense to a 33% shooting percentage in the half. Chauncey Billups was 3-of-11, Chris Paul was 1-of-6 and Blake Griffin was 3-of-9 as the Warriors were able to contest just about every shot.

Monta Ellis scored 12 points in the first half and while he struggled with his outside shot, he showed his usual athleticism when driving into the lane. David Lee was the star of the first half as he scored 11 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. The Warriors as a team outrebounded the Clippers by ten as they have been playing extremely hard on the glass. They will need to keep winning the battle of the boards given what Blake Griffin can do if he starts getting too many second chance opportunities.
