Stephen Curry Injury: Warriors Guard Suffers Right Foot Sprain

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry left the team's matchup with the Phoenix Suns at the U.S. Airways Center after playing only nine minutes, suffering a sprain in his right foot in the first quarter.

Curry missed a layup with 2:30 remaining in the first when landed a bit awkwardly, trying his best not to but any weight on it. He began to limp and hobble down the court, and was relieved by Nate Robinson soon after.

Curry headed to the locker room with nine points and two assists, and came back right before the half to try and give it a go again, but really seemed to be aggravated by it then and never returned. He had x-rays done that were negative, but his status for the near future in unknown.

Curry was supposed to take part in the skills challenge as part of this weekend's All-Star festivities down in Orlando, but likely won't take part considering the injury. Luckily he's got the break to rest up before the team hit's the road early next week.

Warriors Vs. Suns: Monta Ellis Last Second Jumper Seals 106-104 Victory

The Golden State Warriors used their highest scoring half the season to take a sizable lead over the Phoenix Suns halfway through Wednesday night's game at the U.S. Airways Center, but watched it disappear down the stretch just like so many other W's games this year.

The Warriors led by as much as 19 at one point in the first half, but lost guard Stephen Curry once more to injury, leaving them a bit shorthanded. Phoenix kept chipping away, eventually earning their first lead with less than four minutes left in the fourth, trading blows with the Warriors down to the wire. The Suns were down two when they called a timeout with 19.4 seconds left, setting up a Grant Hill drive to tie the game up.

And with 11 seconds left, Monta Ellis spent some time and drained a step back jumper over Grant Hill with one second left, sealing the Warriors first victory in Phoenix since March of 2005, their first in their last 13 attempts there.

Monta played 44 minutes tonight, finishing the game with 26 points and six assists, while Dorell Wright was Golden State's spark plug tonight, keeping an agressive mindset to finish with 23 points and seven rebounds. David Lee had 22, while Nate Robinson had 14 off the bench.

As for the Suns, Channing Frye and Marcin Gortat combined for 43 points, while Jerad Dudley added 17.

Golden State now enters the All-Star break with a two-game winning streak, though has a stretch of seven of their next ten games on the road waiting for them.

Warriors Vs. Suns, Halftime Update: Dorell Wright On The Attack, W's Up 59-45

The Golden State Warriors are off to a great start in their attempt to end their elongated losing streak at the U.S. Airways Center, where their highest scoring half of the season has them up 59-45 at the half against the Phoenix Suns Wednesday night.

David Lee is pacing the W's so far, leading the team with 15 points and three rebounds, but Dorell Wright came out in attack mode tonight, finishing the half with 13 points on 4-6 shooting and has been a big factor in the W's lead so far. Monta Ellis has nine and two assists.

Stephen Curry and Ekpe Udoh both left the game in the first half with injury, but hopefully both will be fine. Curry has nine points and two assists as well.

As for the Suns, Jerad Dudley leads the way for the Suns with 13 points in the first half, while Grant Hill has seven. Steve Nash has only three points but five assists.

Golden State needs to keep their foot on the gas if they want to enter the All-Star break with a winning streak.

Warriors Vs. Suns: Stephen Curry, Ekpe Udoh Leave Game With Injuries

It has remained dormant for a while now, but Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry’s oft-injured ankle/foot has been tweaked once again, causing him to limp off the floor in the first quarter of the Warriors game against the Phoenix Suns at the U.S. Airways Center.

Curry came down awkwardly under the basket, and starting hoping gingerly as to keep from putting pressure on his foot. He limped back upcourt before a foul allowed a substitution.

Steph had already scored nine points and had two assists before he left for Nate Robinson with 2:17 left in the first quarter, and is a terrible sight for Golden State fan’s as No. 30 headed back to the locker room immediately after being relieved by Robinson.

As for Udoh, he left the game in the second quarter favoring the knee he injured against the Clippers. He and Curry’s status remain uncertain for the rest of the night.

Warriors Vs. Suns Preview: Building Momentum Into The All-Star Break

The Golden State Warriors are coming off one of their better victories of the season after taking out the Los Angeles Clippers at Oracle Arena Monday night, while the Phoenix Suns have easily taken their last two contests, looking to make it a third at the U.S. Airways Center before the All-Star break.

But the W's head to the Grand Canyon State to face a well-weathered Suns team that has played an NBA high 14 games this month already, and still have one more before the much needed midseason break.

Phoenix isn't a place Golden State has much success, losing it's last 13 straight contests there including a 102-91 loss at the beginning of January. In fact, Monta Ellis has never won a game there. His career 37.8 percent shooting at the U.S. Airways Center is the lowest of any arena he's played in.

Golden State took out Phoenix a few weeks ago at Oracle 102-96 behind a big night from David Lee (28 and 12 boards) and will likely need some similar output tonight, especially as Marcin Gortat has averaged 20 points and 12 rebounds over his last three games.

Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area.

Shold Ekpe Udoh Be The Golden State Warriors' New Starting Center?

Golden State Warriors starting center Andris Biedrins was held out of Monday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers Monday night due to illness, pushing second year big man Ekpe Udoh into the starting lineup against guys like Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. Udoh made the most of the opportunity, finishing the game with 19 points and eight rebounds, playing a huge role in the W's 104-97 victory.

But with the almost invisible performances that Biedrins has been putting up for over a season now, should Mark Jackson look to leave Udoh in the starting lineup full time, or keep him as part of the energetic and often effective 'dubstitutes?'

Golden State has a serous lack of depth in their front court without Kwame Brown, and Biedrins is their biggest body height/length wise. He's also arguably their least effective player, while Udoh brings energy on both ends of the floor, and has really been finding his offensive game as of late. Coach Jackson said he'll take his time before naming Udoh the starter but has played well enough to demand more minutes, and that Monday's performance was the "icing on the cake" of his improved play over the last month or so.

Ekpe banged his knee on Randy Foye's late in the game, but hopefully won't be a serious injury. If he's good to go, he could likely be the starter once more in Phoenix on Sunday. Here, Ekpe talks about his performance against the Clippers as well as his growing confidence thanks to Coach Jackson:

Staring or not, Udoh should be seeing his minutes continue to increase.

Warriors Vs. Clippers: Monta Ellis, David Lee Lead Golden State To 104-97 Victory

The Golden State Warriors haven't seen the Los Angeles Clippers since the first day of the season, but came to Oracle Arena Monday night looking to push the W's losing streak to four straight. But after terrific performances from Monta Ellis and David Lee, as well as a great showing from Ekpe Udoh, the W's hung on late to secure the 104-97 victory.

These teams battled to a 56-56 tie at the half, and kept slugging it out all the way down to the final buzzer. L.A. held a two point lead with 2:49 left in the game, while a Brandon Rush three with two minutes left gave them back the lead. A big David Lee rebound gave the W's back the ball, leading to a Monta Ellis runner in the lane to push the lead to three for Golden State.

Dominic McQuire came up with a huge block on Chris Paul with about a minute left, who came in for Ekpe Udoh after bumping knees with a Clippers' player the play before. Two Steph Curry free throws pushed the lead to five, and Golden State made just enough plays to fend off the talented Clips down the stretch as L.A. made bad decisions and 17 turnovers on the night.

Monta Ellis was brilliant once again, finishing with 32 points including 4-4 from downtown and 6-6 from the charity stripe, while David Lee came up with another big double-double, pouring in 24 points and 13 rebounds. Ekpe Udoh started in the place of Andris Beidrins who was out with a sickness, shining on both ends of the floor with 19 points and 8 rebounds.

As for the 'dubstitutes', they struggled mightily tonight, going a collective 6-19 led by Nate Robinson's nine.

Chris Paul started out the first half with 20 points, but was held to only four in the second half, none in the fourth quarter, finishing with 24 and six assists. Blake Griffin finished with 21 and nine rebounds, while Mo Williams was on target off the bench with 22 points with 6-8 shooting downtown.

This was the 13th game with the Warriors had a three point margin with 90 seconds or less to play in regulation. They'd lost nine of them previously, but held down the fort tonight in Oakland.

The W's have now won 10 of their last 12 agains the Clippers at Oracle, who now prepare for their trip to Phoenix to meet the Suns on Wednesday.

Warriors Vs. Clippers, Halftime Update: Chris Paul, Monta Ellis Battling, Game Tied 56-56 At The Half

The Golden State Warriors limped back to Oracle Arena after losing two losses on the road, looking to end a three game skid again a talented Los Angeles Clippers Monday night. Chris Paul came out with a vengeance but Monta Ellis and the Warriors hung tough, fighting the Clip Show to a 56-56 tie at the half.

The W's were giving the Clippers all they could handle in the first quarter, finishing the period with a six point lead. The second unit couldn't hang on early in the second quarter as Chris Paul heated up from behind the arc, dropping three three-pointers in a row to take back the lead midway through the second. But the starters fought back hard, working all the way down to the whistle to ensure the halftime draw.

Monta Ellis kept pace with CP3 in the first half, scoring 18 on 6-11 shooting with four assists, while Ekpe Udoh had a great first half in Andris Biedrins' absence (sickness) scoring 12. David Lee had 13 and six rebounds, while Stephen Curry had nine and four assists.

Paul was light's out in the first half, scoring 20 points on 6-7 shooting, while Blake Griffin worked his way to 14 and four rebounds. Both teams were on fire from downtown as well, each shooting over 50%.

It's an up-tempo shootout at Oracle so far, let's see if the Warriors can keep up down the stretch.

Warriors Vs. Clippers: Blake Griffin, Chris Paul Invade Oracle Arena

The last time the Golden State Warriors saw the Los Angeles Clippers it was Christmas day, and the buzz around having the return of the NBA took center stage. This time around the W's are trying to stop a losing streak as one of the NBA's most talented teams arrives ar Oracle Arena Monday night.

The Clip Show (19-10) currently owns the West's third-best record, but came up short against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday in a 103-100 overtime loss. The Clips gave it away late, and are determined to right the ship Monday night against Golden State (11-17).

The Warriors were out rebounded 45-31 Saturday against the Memphis Grizzlies, and outscored 44-22 in the painted area, not exactly who you'd like to be playig entering a contest with a Clippers' frontcourt of Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. A lot of the burden will fall on the bigs tonight, most notably David Lee, who has been lighting it up offensively, and Ekpe Udoh, who's growing into one of the better defenders around the rim.

As for Chris Paul, the Warriors can only hope to try and contain him, averaging 17 points and 8 assists over his last 10 games, and had 20 points and nine assists in their Christmas Day victory at Oracle to start out the season.

Five of the W's last eight losses have come by three points or less, but they've won four of their last six at Oracle. Hopefully the later streak keeps on after tonight.

Tipoff is set for 7:30 pm PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area.

Warriors Vs. Grizzlies: Last Second Tip-In Secures 104-103 Memphis Win

The Golden State Warriors entered the Fedex Forum looking for an elusive road victory Saturday night, while the Memphis Grizzlies were looking to keep their train rolling with another victory. And thanks to a late game tip-in, the Griz held on to secure the hard-fought 104-103 victory.

Tony Allen put back a Rudy Gay miss with 5.6 seconds to ensure their fourth straight victory, though the Warriors had one last chance. David Lee was unfortunately called for an offensive foul with about a second left, just one of their 13 turnovers on the night.

Stephen Curry led the Warriors (11-17) with season high tying 36 points, including 6-9 from downtown. Monta Ellis had an excellent game as well, dropping 33 points, though it would ultimately prove not enough.

Memphis had themselves a very well-rounded night offensively as Rudy Gay paced the Grizzlies (18-14) with 19 points, while O.J. Mayo had 18. Marc Gasol had a tidy double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds, Marreese Speights added 16 points, while Mike Conley finished with 15 points and six assists.

Warriors Vs. Grizzlies, NBA Preview: W's Hit Memphis Looking For Elusive Road Victory

After getting blown out by the Oklahoma City Thunder Friday night, the Golden State Warriors must regroup in a hurry as they head to Memphis to take on the Grizzlies at the FedEx Forum Saturday evening.

The Grizzlies (17-14) are riding a three game wining streak coming into tonight's matchup, but almost let one slip last night after watching a 20+ point lead whittle down to one in Denver in their last time out, but return home looking to keep the good times rolling.

As for the Warriors (11-16) their road woes continue as they have only three wins away from Oracle all season. Rudy Gay, All-Star Marc Gasol and Co. will prove to be another stiff test for David Lee, Monta and the like, though Lee has been playing very well as of late, dropping 23 and six last night on the Thunder.

Golden State Warriors Blown Out By Thunder As Kevin Durant And James Harden Have Big Nights

The Golden State Warriors have been struggling on the defensive end of the court in recent weeks and they were exploited once again by Kevin Durant, James Harden and the Thunder on Friday night. The Warriors, who entered with a road record of 3-7, were blown out by Oklahoma City by a score of 110-87. Most of the starters for OKC were out by late in the third quarter.

David Lee led the way with 23 points and six rebounds. Dorell Wright, Monta Ellis, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson all added 11 points each, but that was simply not enough to keep pace with the Thunder. Golden State shot 34% from the field, including just 7-for-23 from behind the arc.

Harden led all scorers with 25 points and Durant chipped in 23 of his own. Both players only played 30 minutes. Russell Westbrook added 18 points. The Thunder shot nearly 53% from the field and converted on 22 of their 27 attempts from the free throw line.

With the ugly loss in the back of their minds, the Warriors will look to bounce back on Saturday evening in Memphis against the Grizzlies. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. ET.

NBA All-Star Game 2012: Stephen Curry To Defend Title In Skills Challenge

The Golden State Warriors went almost unrepresented at All-Star weekend this year in Orlando. That is until the league added Stephen Curry to the Taco Bell Skills Challenge, making him to sole player from the Warriors taking part in any event this year on All-Star Saturday.

Monta Ellis was snubbed as an All-Star reserve, and both Brandon Rush and rookie Klay Thompson were not sleceted for the three-point contest either, despite Rush leading the league from downtown and Thompson shooting over 50% from behind the arc.

Both Thompson and second-year big man Ekpe Udoh weren't selected for Rookie-Sophomore game, and undrafted rookie Chris Wright and his insane hops weren't even considered for the Dunk contest. Thankfully the league brought Curry back to defend his 2011 title.

Curry will be up against former Warrior Jeremy Lin in the skills challenge as well, while Lin will also be taking part in the Rookie-Sophomore game as well.

Warriors Vs. Thunder, NBA Preview: W's Open Road Trip Against Kevin Durant, OKC

The Oklahoma City Thunder own the NBA's best record so far, all the while they've played the least amount of home games in the Western Conference. Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and co. are 10-1 at Chesapeake Energy Arena, but have played their only twice in the last three weeks, but play host to the Golden State Warriors Friday night, who begin an elongated road trip of their own.

The Thunder have had just as many games at home than thy've had at Oracle Arena over that three week span, earning themselves two victories in the process. But the W's open up a five game homestand for OKC, and haven't won there in their last five attempts, meaning they'll certainly have their work cut out for them this evening.

Durant has already dropped two double-doubles (37 and 13, 33 and 10) on the W's this season, while Westbrook has a combined 59 points and 18 assists against Golden State as well, but also has committed 16 turnovers, and likely will be a handful again tonight.

The Warriors are going to need a healthy Monta Ellis back this evening, who sat out the fourth quarter during Wednesday's 93-91 loss to Portland, but also will need a solid performance from everyone, and I mean everyone, if they want to get themselves a win. OKC is too talented and has too deep a bench, so hopefully the three headed monster of Monta, Stephen Curry and David Lee can take control, with a little bit of help from the Dubstitutes.

Tipoff is set for 5:00 p.m. PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area.

Warriors Need More Than Monta Ellis Late In The Fourth Quarter

With their loss to the Portland trailblazers last night, the Golden State Warriors made it their ninth loss when having a lead in the fourth quarter. Most nights it becomes the Monta Ellis show at the end of the game, but due to illness, according head coach Mark Jackson, Ellis sat out the fourth quarter while the hot hand of Nate Robinson cooled off fast.

But when the game is on the line, both Stephen Curry and David Lee seemingly slip into the woodwork down the stretch, as neither played a large factor late in the fourth quarter Wednesday night.

Lee had a nice and-one three-point play with 3:39 left put the Warriors up by six, but didn’t take another shot after that. Curry managed to make a pair of free throws to put the Warriors up 90-88 with 1:17 left, but aside from that, took just one shot in about nine fourth-quarter minutes, a missed 3-pointer with five minutes to go.

Robinson and rookie Klay Thompson were the main offensive go-to’s late last night, with Nate taking nine fourth quarter shots and Thompson three. Golden State doesn’t have much of a Plan B without Ellis if these two are your main options down the stretch.

Ellis is the ‘closer’ but without him the W’s don’t have many other options if guys like Lee and Curry don’t step up. Let’s see if they can pick it up a bit late in the game during their upcoming road trip.

Warriors Vs. Blazers: David Lee, Nate Robinson Not Enough, W's Fall 93-91

The Golden State Warriors haven't had many four game winning streaks lately, so a victory over the Portland Trailblazers Wednesday night would be big for head coach Mark Jackson's squad. These two teams grinded it out all night long, trading leads back and forth all the way down to the very end, but the Blazers would reign supreme by the score of 93-91 at Oracle Arena.

Portland was without LaMarcus Aldridge tonight, so would have to rely on their other playmakers to get the job done down the stretch. A David Lee and-one put the W's up six with 3:40 left in the fourth, but that lead wouldn't last long as a Gerald Wallace three at 1:56 tied it back up. Two Steph free throws gave Golden State back the lead, but Jamal Crawford buried his first points of the second half with a three to take back the lead.

Coach Jackson called a timeout to plan for a final play, but Nate Robinson would trip and botch the end of the game late and the Blazers would take off with the victory.

David Lee led the way with another double-double, with 29-11, while Dorell Wright added 12 on 5-9 shooting.

Coach Jackson decided to ride the hot hand of Nate Robinson over Monta Ellis tonight, who dropped 21 points off the bench. An interesting decision to say the least, Monta finished with 10 points in 27 minutes on 3-9 shooting, playing almost no time in the fourth quarter at all. It marked the ninth loss when they were leading a game in the fourth quarter.

Gerald Wallace was 4-4 from downtown, finishing with 23 points, while Nicolas Batum added 17. Jamal Crawford added 14 off the bench.

Warriors Vs. Blazers, Halftime Score: Turnovers Killing Warriors Again, Blazers Lead 57-54

The Golden State Warriors played host to the Portland Trailblazers Wednesday night, gunning for their fourth straight victory in a row. The Blazers entered Oracle Arena without their top scorer and rebounder LaMarcus Aldridge trying to turn it around after back-to-back losses. And after a half in which the W's shot over 56% form the field, their nine first half turnovers ensured Portland stayed close and eventually took the lead, owning a 57-54 advantage at the half.

The W's stretched out a comfortable lead that they watched whittle away towards the end of the second quarter, as Gerald Wallace leads the way for Portland with 12 points including 2-2 from downtown, while Nicolas Batum continues to shine as well, dropping 11 in the first half.

David Lee is having another solid game, scoring 17 first half points and grabbing eight boards, while Nate Robinson hit three three-pointers in his first 2:35 on the floor to spark the W's bench tonight, adding 11 points in only five minutes. Dorell Wright is 4-7 from the field for 10 points, while Monta Ellis has six points and Stephen Curry four and six assists.

The W's out rebounded the Blazers 21-19 in the half and were 6-9 from downtown, two things they'll have to continue if they want to come out on top tonight.

NBA All-Star Game 2012: Warriors Snubbed From Three Point Contest, Mark Jackson Irked

The Golden State Warriors currently lead the NBA in three point percentage, and have three players shooting at a 42 % clip or better at the moment as well. Still, the NBA made no notice of them when making the squad for the Three Point Contest during the NBA All-Star Weekend, which didn’t exactly rub head coach Mark Jackson the right way.

Minnesota’s Kevin Love, Miami’s Mario Chalmers, New Jersey’s Anthony Morrow, Orlando’s Ryan Howard, Atlanta’s Joe Johnson, and defending champion James Jones of Miami will make up the competitors this year.

Love is shooting only 36% and Johnson 35.6%, while Stephen Curry (42%), Klay Thompson (50%) and league leader Brandon Rush (54%) weren’t considered to take part in the event.

Here’s what coach Jackson had to say about it:

“I want to congratulate Reggie Miller, Ray Allen, Larry Bird, Craig Hodges, Dale Ellis and Steve Kerr,” Jackson said. “Because Brandon Rush and Klay Thompson don’t make the cut – shooting almost 55 percent and 50 percent from 3-point land."

As to how to settle it, Jax offered this idea:

“Why don’t we just fly those guys (this year’s contestants) into Oakland and we can put something at stake … and I’ll take my guys.”

I would too. Especially since they know the rims at the W’s facility.

Warriors Vs. Trailblazers NBA Preview: W's Go For Fourth Straight Against Ailing Blazers

The Golden State Warriors are putting the pieces together night-by-night, and are finally playing consistently winning basketball under head coach Mark Jackson. The Portland Trailblazers have lost four of their last five, and will be without big man LaMarcus Aldridge once again, leaving the door a bit more open for the W's to earn their fourth straight victory Wednesday evening at Oracle Arena.

The Blazers (15-14) are coming off a troublesome 124-109 home loss to the Washington Wizards last time out, possibly a sign of the state of their team right now. Nevertheless Portland always gives the W's a handful to deal with, though will have to look elsewhere for production with their leading scorer/rebounder on the sideline, likely Nicolas Batum who's coming off a rare start at guard and a career-high 33 points,

David Lee led the W's on Monday with another solid double-double, and with Aldridge out, he should look to get some more targets in the paint, even against Gerald Wallace, who'll be at PF in Aldridge's place. The W's will need some big production out of their front court against all the size Portland possesses.

Also look for Monta Ellis to have a good game as well, held to 2-9 shooting in his last meeting with Portland. And after his poor shooting game Monday, this will hopefully be a 'bounce back' performance from No. 8.

Mark Jackson Discusses Winning Streak After Warriors Win Over Suns [VIDEO]

The Golden State Warriors are playing winning basketball.

Head coach Mark Jackson spoke with the media after the Warriors 102-96 victory over the Phoenix Suns at Oracle Arena, marking their first three-game winning streak of the season. Jackson was obviously pleased with a number of things, but most notably the adjustments made on defense and offense, especially after shooting only 36% in the first half.

"The old Warriors team would have been down 15-20 points, because their defense wouldn't have kept them in the game."

Coach specifically highlights Ekpe Udoh and his performance Monday night as well, noting not only his importance as a defensive shoot blocker/changer and rebounder, but also his progressing offensive repertoire, highlighted by his effective face-up jumper from midrange.

via CSNBayArea.com

The Warriors face a very tough stretch of their schedule coming up, with eight of their next ten games on the road with meetings with the Thunder, Clippers, Grizzlies, Pacers, and Sixers. They may have hit their stride at just the right time.

Warriors Vs. Suns, NBA Scores: David Lee Powers 102-86 Victory, W's Win Third Straight

The Golden State Warriors were hungry for their third straight victory Monday night, looking to make the Phoenix Suns their victim. But the streaking Suns put up quite a fight, down to the final seconds, but the W's would eventually prevail by the score of 102-96 at Oracle Arena.

After shooting 35% from the floor in the first half, the Suns held the lead for the majority of three quarters, but a 22-8 run in third powered a big comeback, leading to a 10 point lead with five minutes left to play. That was quickly whittled away with a few unforced errors, leading to a Mark Jackson timeout to regroup his squad for the final minutes.

The Warriors didn't score for the last four and a half minutes of the game before a left-handed hook in the paint by Ekpe Udoh pushed the W's lead back to five with 36 seconds left and eventually for good, leading to their first three game winning streak of the season.

David Lee had himself a big night, finishing up with 28 points and 12 rebounds, while Monta Ellis dropped 18 and seven assists despite starting the game 0-10 from the field. Steph Curry had nine points and seven dimes, while the bench mob was strong again with Nate Robinson's 11, Klay Thompson's 10, and Brandon Rush's 8. As for the aforementioned Udoh, he had nine points and three blocks leading the W's once in at +14 in the +/-.

Steve Nash's 14 assists fueled five other Suns to score in double figures, led by Marcin Gortat's 25 and 12, and Channing Frye's 18 on 7-17 shooting.

Winner's of five of their last seven games now, the Warriors host the Portland Trailblazers Wednesday, then on to Oklahoma City for another meeting with Kevin Durant and the Thunder on Friday. This will be a tough little stretch to see if the W's can keep their great play going.

Warriors Vs. Suns, Halftime Update: Poor Shooting Leaves W's Trailing 46-43

The Golden State Warriors continued their three game homestand Monday against the surging Phoenix Suns, looking to breaking their current seven-game losing streak against them. But Steve Nash was up to his usual tricks, diming out his teammates left and right while pushing a 46-43 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Suns were in control for most of the first half, extending their lead to 10 at one point towards the end of the second quarter. The W's shot an abismal 36% from the floor, while the Suns 51% was largely fueled by Nash's 9 first half assists. Marcin Gortat has 12 points and six rebounds as well.

Monta Ellis is struggling mightily from the floor, scoring 5 first half points on 2-12 shooting, starting off the game 0-10. David Lee leads the way so far with 12 points and nine rebounds, while Klay Thompson continues to impress in added minutes, dropping seven points and five minutes in only 9 first half minutes.

Considering the atrocious shooting half the W's had, they should be happy to be only three points behind. They'll have to step it up in the second 24 minutes of play.

Warriors Vs. Suns, NBA Preview: W's Look For Third Straight Victory, Host Streaking Suns

Both the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors had less than impressive starts to their respective seasons, but both have been playing winning basketball as of late, setting up a meeting of peaking teams at Oracle Arena Monday night.

The Suns (12-15) come into the game winner’s of four of their last five, while the Warriors (10-14) are taken four of their last six, including a victory over the Houston Rockets on Sunday evening. The suns have taken the last seven meetings with the W’s though, including a 102-91 victory back on Jan 2. in Phoenix.

Coach Jackson has a very similar team to his own to prepare for, a team that can get up and down but also has a good defensive mentality, but has something the Suns don’t in Monta Ellis, who comes in averaging 22 points and five assists over his last 10 games.

Rookie Klay Thompson has been stepping up lately in more minutes, dropping 33 in his last two games combined. And along with Stpehen Curry, Brandon Rush and Dorell Wright, the W’s have a litany of sharp shooters that are the best 3-point assassins at Oracle, leading the NBA at 39.2% in 3-point percentage at home.

They’ll likely need a few this evening to deal with Steve Nash, Channing Frye and Co.

Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and NBA TV.

Monta Ellis, Mark Jackson Discuss Victory Over Houston Rockets [VIDEO]

After a bit of a rocky start with in his first gig as an NBA coach, Golden State Warriors whistleblower Mark Jackson is getting his team playing together, and has been working them into a winning ball club as of late, copping a W in four of their last six games now.

Their victory Sunday night was another impressive showing by Golden State using stingy defense both inside and out to limit the Rockets, took care of the basketball down the stretch, and held tough in the fourth quarter, all things the W's were waffling with from time to time this season.

Here's coach talking with the media after last night's game, discussing the team's all-around effort, especially on D:

Monta Ellis was the offensive lynchpin on Monday, dropping 33 points and seven assists to lead the way for Golden State, and discussed his role in doing so after the game as well:

The W's must now refocus in a hurry as the Phoenix Suns enter Oracle Arena Monday evening.

Warriors Vs. Rockets, NBA Scores: Monta Ellis' 33 Paces W's to 106-97 Victory

The Golden State Warriors were looking for their 10th win of their season Sunday night, and Monta Ellis was determined to ensure that happend against the Houston Rockets at Oracle Arena. And behind a brilliant 33 point performance from No. 8 the W's won there second game in a row, ending the Rockets current win streak by the score of 106-97.

The Warriors limited the turnovers in the second half tonight, while maintaining a solid stream of steady offense and sturdy defense, keeping a dangerous Houston team on the ropes for most of the game, and made sure to knock them out in the fourth quarter instead of letting them back into the game.

Monta's 33 points came along with seven assists, five rebounds, two steals and even a block, while David Lee had another double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Both men played 40-plus minutes as well, with the Phoenix Suns coming to town on Monday.

Stephen Curry added 14 on 5-14 shooting from the floor, while Klay Thompson added 14 off the bench, and Brandon Rush 10 on 2-2 from downtown. In fact, the W's were 13-24 form three point land Sunday (54%). Ekpe Udoh was also a major factor tonight, scoring all seven of his points in the fourth quarter along with six rebounds and a team high +17 in the +/-.

Kevin Martin led the way for the Rockets ith 28 points and six rebounds, and Luis Scola's 14 ponts and 11 rebounds. Houston was 13-4 in the last 17 games coming into this matchup. They continue their longest road trip of the season in Memphis to face the Grizzlies on Tuesday.

The Warriors have now won four of their last six and are definitely playing their best basketball of the year. Maybe Coach Jackson has finally figured it out.

Warriors Vs. Rockets, Halftime Update: W's Surge Late, 48-44 Take Halftime Lead

The Warriors came into Oracle Arena Sunday night brimming with confidence after their road victory in Denver on Thursday, but so were the Houston Rockets, bringing three straight road wins along with them to the party. But thanks to a late surge from the W’s they take a 48-44 lead into the locker room at the half.

Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry are pacing Golden State so far, with Monta dropping 14 points and six assists while Steph added nine points and three assists. Brandon Rush and Klay Thompson both have had some solid time on the floor, dropping six and five poitns respectfully, while Ekpe Udoh has been working hard on defense and was a +13 in the first half.

Kevin Martin and Luis Scola lead the way for Houston, with Scola nearing a first half double-double with eight points and eight rebounds. Martin has 10 points on 3-5 from downtown.

Both teams continue to turn the ball over, (13 and 12 in the first half) but the W’s are hanging tough so far, hopefully the can maintain for the second half.

Warriors Vs. Rockets Preview: W's Return Home To Face Surging Rockets

The Houston Rockets are in the middle of their longest road trip off the season, bringing three straights wins with them to Oracle Arena Sunday night. But the Golden State Warriors just earned a great road win of their own out in Denver, and return to Oakland with some confidence as the take on this surging Houston squad.

The Rockets (16-11) have been paced by the bench as of late, outscoring the Suns bench 53-17 their last time out, and was crucial to their victory in Portland two games ago as well. Houston has also won 12 of their last 13 against Golden State, and six of the last seven at Oracle.

Stephen Curry is coming off his best night of the season for the Warriors (9-14), while reserve center Ekpe Udoh had an impressive five blocks and was a defensive force in the paint, hopefully similar performances can come from both.

Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m. PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area.

Stephen Curry Rides Hot Hand, Golden State Warriors Beat Denver Nuggets 109-101

Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors need to start winning to be taken seriously. Golden State has won only two road contests up to this point. The Warriors finally got the right matchup when they played the injury-depleted Denver Nuggets, and Curry made Denver pay for letting him get his shots.

Curry shot an incredible 76% from the field, making 13 of 17 shots and also nailed six of nine threes for 36 points. Curry also added seven rebounds and seven assists and only one turnover. Klay Thompson added 19 points off the bench on 8 of 11 shooting. Dorrel Wright added 15 points, Monta Ellis had 14, and David Lee put in 12. Golden State shot 52% from the field and 52% from downtown. Aaron Afflalo led the Nuggets with 26 points and Ty Lawson had 11 points and 10 assists in support.

Monta Ellis Discusses Career Night Against Thunder [VIDEO]

Golden State Warriors guard Monta Ellis put on a show at Oracle Arena Tuesday night, dropping a new career high 48 points on the Oklahoma City Thuner, though it would ultimately prove not enough as the W's would fall late in the fourth quarter.

Monta took some time to speak to the media after the game, speaking about how he felt his performance went, how he felt the rest of the team performed, and how it feels to play so well and still take the L.

Monta joined David Lee, Stephen Curry and Dorell Wright last night with 40-plus minutes on the floor, and were really the only players getting it done for Golden State at all last night, that isn't going to keep them in games most of the time, they need more help from the bench, which they got almost none of last night.

The Warriors now head to Denver to take on the Nuggets Thursday night, a place very few road teams are finding wins at these days.

Mark Jackson Displeased With Referees After Loss To Thunder [VIDEO]

The Golden State Warriors seemed to have the Oklahoma City Thunder on the ropes so to speak in the second half, forcing them to play their game while hitting shot after shot, getting after it the entire night. But the W's would eventually lose another heartbreaker, and head coach Mark Jackson had to talk about it once more in the post game presser.

Jackson discusses Monta's incredibly night, but also had some choice words for the referees, apparently not too happy with some of the calls his Warriors were getting down the stretch.

Warriors Vs. Thunder, NBA Scores: Monta Ellis' Career High 48, David Lee's Triple-Double Not Enough, OKC Wins 119-116

The last time the Oklahoma City Thunder came to Oracle Arena, they ran all over the Golden State Warriors for a 120-109 victory. This time around the W's were ready to run with the NBA's best, led by Monta Ellis' career-high 48 points and David Lee's second career triple double, but it would ultimately prove not enough as the Thunder held on late for the 119-116 victory.

After battling back to hold the Thunder to a two-point halftime advantage, the Warriors came out firing in the second half, holding the lead for the majority of the way there on in. The Thunder finally got the lead back with a Westbrook jumper at the top of the key with about two minutes remaining, then giving up an all too easy Kevin Durant dunk to swing the momentum in OKC's favor.

More: Fantastic game, but not a W

But when the game gets close it's Monta time, with Elis forcing a clutch and-one runner to tie up the game again, and iced the free throw to give the W's back the lead with twenty seconds left. KD banked in a jumper instead of holding for the last shot to take back the lead, but gave the W's time for the last shot. They would miss, and ultimately fall despite their best efforts.

Lee had a solid but quiet six points, eight boards and five assists in the first half, but exploded for 25 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, the Warriors first triple double since December 23, 1993 when Chris Webber performed the feat against the Clippers. Lee's first career trip-dub actually came against the Warriors back in 2010.

As for Monta, he finished 18-29 along with seven rebounds, in a possible attempt to gain some All-Star votes as a reserve, dropping 30 of those points in the first half alone. Stephen Curry added 16 on 7-9 shooting, while Dorell Wright added 9. Brnadon Rush also had 9 from off the bench.

Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant would ultimately prove too much tonight, dropping 64 points combined with 31 and 33 respectfully. Daequan Cook was also big factor in keeping the Thunder in the game, hitting 5-6 from downtown for 17 points, while James Harden added 19.

Despite the Warriors getting career nights out of Ellis and Lee, out rebounding the Thunder 36-33, getting to the free throw line 23 times and shooting 55 percent from the field, they still come up with the loss. Real tough pill to swallow for the Warriors tonight.

Warriors Vs. Thunder, Halftime Score: Monta Ellis Drops 30 in First Half, Thunder Still Lead 59-57

The Golden State Warriors played host to the NBA's best team in the league record-wise thus far in the Oklahoma City Thunder Tuesday night, looking to get a victory over the cream of the NBA. But a well fought second quarter by the W's, most notably by Monta Ellis, kept the Thunder in check, owning 59-57 halftime lead at the half at Oracle Arena.

The W's got started out hot, taking an early 8-0 lead right out of the gate, but a Kevin Durant buzzer-beating three to end the first quarter left the W's with a six point lead. But the W's went cold in the second quarter, watching Oklahoma City race out to a 10 point lead at one point, but finished strong to keep the W's only 2 points back at the half.

It truly was the Monta Ellis show in the first half, with No. 8 pouring in buckets from absolutely everywhere. Ellis finished the half with 30 points on 12-17 shooting (more than half the team's points), while Russell Westbrook did his best to keep up, scoring 18 on 7-10 shooting. Stephen Curry added 9 on 4-4 shooting from the floor, while David Lee added a solid six points, eight boards, and five assists.

Kevin Durant struggled from the floor in that first quarter but picked it up in bit in the second finishing with 11 points, while Nazr Mohammed and James Harden light it up for OKC's bench, dropping 8 and 11 respectfully.

the W's bench on the other hand was certainly out of sorts, especially with Nate Robinson's late scratch due to a groin strain. Klay Thompson committed two fouls in two minutes, Brandon Rush hit a three, and Ekpe Udoh led the Dubstitutes with six points.

Monta is hot, which means for an entertaining finishing down the stretch. Make sure to stay tuned.

Warriors Vs. Thunder Preview: Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook Invade Oracle Again

As the Golden State Warriors prepare for the NBA best Oklahoma City Thunder at Oracle Arena, they hopefully learned something from the tape of their loss to them here a few weeks back as they are in desperate need of some wins here early in February.

The Warriors (8-13) have lost seven of their last nine to the Thunder (19-5), but have played the NBA's top-tier much better at home this season, earning victories over the Bulls and Heat in Oakland already, though were no match for Kevin Durant and Co. during their last visit, a 120-109 loss in January.

Golden State looks to bounce back from a salty overtime loss in Sacramento their last time out, though will most certainly have their work cut out for them this evening. The Thunder continue to roll, coming off a overtime victory over the Trailblazers Monday night, lead by who else, Durant and Westbrook.

The duo of Durant and Russell Westbrook will be the main cog of their offensive output, with Durant averaging over 32 points a game at Oracle in his career. Westbrook? He finished two assists shy of a triple-double last night, and will be a handfull for the Warriors backcourt this evening. As well. But dont rest on the rest of their team, they have lots of depth, one of the main reasons they're the best in the league right now.

Golden State will need to look inside if they want to keep it close, even if they're shooting well you don't want to take on Oklahoma City at their own game. Look for lots of David Lee early and often, and hopefully Biedrins can possibly drop a bucket of two along with his rebounds. Boards will be a tough grab against tonight though as the Thunder have five players within an inch or two of being seven feet tall.

Dorrell Wright has been heating up lately as well, going 15-30 from downtown over his past four games. Along with league leading three point shooter Brandon Rush, hopefully they'll drop some daggers tonight to help keep up with the Thunder.

Another stat of note- the Thunder are 16-1 when Durant has three of more assists, keep an eye on his passing tonight.

Warriors Coach Mark Jackson Discusses Team Chemistry In Post Practice Interview [Video]

The Golden State Warriors face a tough stretch of games ahead of them with matchups against the Oklahoma City Thunder at home and Denver Nuggets on the road slated for the week, and are in desperate need of wins if they want to even become a part of the playoff discussion.

Coach has had a tough time getting a good balance out of his bench and starters in the same game as of late; either one group shows up or the other. Jackson was asked about this at length after W's practice Monday at their downtown Oakland facilites, to which he got a little bit defensive over at times. Below is the full video from Monday's interview:

Jackson can't make the media happy with losses, and as long as Golden State keeps putting up L's he will have to suffer through interviews like this. He believes in his team and what he is doing, and no one will tell him otherwise; something I appreciate in a head coach. Maybe it will turn around this week.

Warriors Recall Chris Wright From D-League, Waive Big Man Earl Barron

After putting up some rather impressive numbers down in the NBA D-League recently, the Golden State Warriors have recalled power forward Chris Wright, while waiving center Earl Barron to make room for him on the 15 man roster.

Wright, the 6-8 forward out of Dayton University, played in three games with the for the W’s D-League affiliate, the Dakota Wizards. and made the most of his time there. Wright averaged 20.7 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist and 2.33 blocks in 31.0 minutes per contest, garnering himself enough attention to make it back to the show.

As for Barron, who was signed as some emergency help when Kwame Brown went down with his pectoral injury, appeared in only two games for Golden State, averaging 2.0 points in 4.5 minutes with the W’s.

Wright began the season on the Warriors roster and saw minutes in five games, averaging 1 point in 3.2 minutes of play.

The Warriors could decide to bring someone to replace Barron, as Monday is the first day that NBA teams can sign players to 10-day contracts, something to keep an eye on moving forward.

Warriors Coach Mark Jackson Discusses Loss To Kings [Video]

Each time the Golden State Warriors seemingly take two steps forward, they are taking one step back. While that is still making progress, it's not coming at the speed or fluidity that head coach Mark Jackson would like during this shortened NBA season.

And after another hard fought battle with their Northern California rivals the Sacramento Kings on Saturday, coach Jackson took some time to discuss the heart wrenching overtime loss to a team that simply 'manhandled' them down low for the majority of the game:

With the W's getting set to take on the Thunder and Nuggets this week, the top team in the NBA along with one of the toughest in the Western Conference, they'll once again have to pick up the pieces and figure out a winning formula again this week.

Warriors Vs. Kings, Final Score: Kings Take Over in Overtime, Drop W's 114-106

Sacramento, CA (Sports Network) – John Salmons scored 14, including the go- ahead three-pointer to start overtime, helping Sacramento to a 114-106 win over the Golden State Warriors.

DeMarcus Cousins had 21 points and a career-high 20 rebounds for the Kings, who have won two straight after dropping five in a row. Marcus Thornton totaled 28 points and Tyreke Evans 26 for the Kings, who also received 15 points and 16 rebounds from Jason Thompson.

“When it comes along and develops, they’re going to be pretty good,” Sacramento coach Keith Smart said of his starting lineup. “All those guys in that lineup bring something that’s very positive on both sides of the ball.”

Golden State committed 18 turnovers, leading to 33 Sacramento points. The Warriors were led by Dorell Wright’s 24 points. Nate Robinson scored 20 for the Warriors, who had won their previous two contests. That included a 93-90 win over the Kings on Tuesday.

The Kings outrebounded the Warriors, 55-36.

“We didn’t step up to the challenge,” Golden State coach Mark Jackson said. “It’s awfully frustrating when a guy like Dominic McGuire can tie for our rebound lead in a little under than 15 minutes in the game. It’s just a mentality, a mindset. We didn’t put forth an effort to win on the road.”

Sacramento wasted an eight-point fourth quarter lead and a dunk by Brandon Rush gave the visitors a 99-97 edge with 2:03 left. But Cousins had a tip-in and after a free throw from Salmons and two more from Evans, the hosts held a three-point edge with 15.2 seconds to go.

Klay Thompson tied it at 102 with a three-ball from the left corner, and Evans missed a potential winner at the end of regulation.

The Kings then scored the opening nine points of overtime with Salmons starting the spurt and Evans ending it with a driving layup.

The Warriors held a 54-53 edge at the half, but then gave up 34 points in the third quarter to trail by 11 going to the fourth. Sacramento shot 68.4 percent in the period, led by Thornton’s 7-of-8 effort.

Game Notes

The Warriors went 16-of-29 from three-point range…Klay Thompson had 16 points, two less than teammate Monta Ellis…Each team shot under 44 percent.

Warriors Vs. Kings Preview: W's Eye Third Win In A Row As Marcus Thornton Returns For Sactown

The Golden State Warriors head down to Power Band Pavilion Saturday night to take on the Northern California rival Sacramento Kings for the second time this week, trying to earn just their third road victory of the season as well as their first three game winning streak under Mark Jackson’s tutelage.

"I think (Saturday) is a big game for us, obviously," Jackson said after practice. "It’s an opportunity to win three in a row, an opportunity to continue to practice the principles we’ve laid forth and to continue to build."

With a win the team will move to 9-12, just three games under .500 while inching that much closer to a possible playoff berth. Jackson’s formula is starting to make more sense to these guys with every passing day, which they can hopefully use to keep stringing wins together.

The Warriors used the bench mob to take down the Kings on Tuesday, while the trio of starters in Monta Ellis, Stephen Curry and David Lee decimated the Utah Jazz on Thursday. Which poison will Jackson pick to use against the Kings tonight? Well, hopefully a little bit of both.

As for the Kings, you’d think they would want to play hard for Keith Smart once again, which they most certainly did on Tuesday, and the return of Marcus Thornton from injury tonight will likely give them a big boost offensively after he missed the last five games.

Tipoff is set for 7:00 pm PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.

Warriors Vs. Jazz, Final Score: Monta Ellis, Stephen Curry Combine For 62, W's Trounce Jazz 119-101

With the talented Utah Jazz entering Oracle Arena Thursday night without three key players, the Golden State Warriors had a golden opportunity to earn themselves their second straight victory on their home court. And behind two dazzling performances from Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry, and a strong second half from David Lee the W's took over in the third quarter and never looked back, finishing out the Jazz 119-101.

Both the Warriors (8-12) and Jazz (12-9) played on a mainly even keel through the first half with the W's taking a two point lead into halftime. But whatever Coach Jackson said in the locker room worked as the Warriors came out with high energy on both ends of the floor, were getting to the rack and free throw line, and had everybody hustling for rebounds. And after leaving the second unit on the floor for much of the second half against Sacramento, the starters were too electric to take off the floor, leaving it only to the bench in garbage time at the end.

Monta and Steph put on a show with Devin Harris, Earl Watson and Raja Bell all out with injury for Utah, combing for 62 points together. Monta led all scorers with 33 on 13-21 shooting, while Steph dropped 29 with 12 assists and five rebounds. David Lee woke up after a 2-14 start from the floor to finish with another double-double with 23 points and 14 rebounds, while Dorell Wright added 13. Ekpe Udoh was excellent off the bench with seven points four rebounds, and three blocks while Andris Biedrins snagged nine rebounds, four on the offensive glass.

The W's out rebounded the Jazz 47-43 on the night, while turning the ball over only eight times. If this Golden State team keeps showing up, one that's efficient and full of energy, good things should be coming the Warriors way.

Warriors Vs. Jazz Preview: Warriors Look To Start Winning Streak

With almost a third of the season under their belts, the Golden State Warriors are going to need to start stringing some wins together in a hurry if they want to even be considered in the playoff discussion. That task will continue Thursday against the Utah Jazz, who squeaked out their first road win of the season last time at Oracle.

Gordon Heyward annoyed Warriors fans with a team high 18 points back on Jan 7 during a 88-87 victory at Oracle, but hopefully the W’s are out for a little redemption against a team with a league low six road games played thus far. They’ll start their longest roadie of the season on Thursday with a number of injuries as Devin Harris and Raja Bell will likely be sitting with injury, as will backup point guard Earl Watson. They’ll have a lot more to deal with in this deep Jazz team.

Monta attacked the basket a lot last time against Utah, dropping a career high 16 free throws, something he will hopefully continue tonight, while David Lee and Beidrins will have their hands full with Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap down low. The W’s will also need a similar output from the bench mob against the Kings if they want to earn another win, starting once again with Brandon Rush and Nate Robinson.

It will also by Stephen Curry’s first time seeing Utah this season, missing their last meeting with the ankle injury.

Tipoff is set for 7:30 pm PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.

Golden State Warriors Knock Off Sacramento Kings, Pick Up Big Home Victory

More: A win but not a smart win

The Golden State Warriors desperately needed to pick up a victory on Tuesday night and they took care of business against the Sacramento Kings at Oracle Arena. The Warriors got off to a bit of a slow start and the game was sloppy throughout, but a big second half led Golden State to the 93-90 win. The victory improved the team to 7-12 on the season.

Brandon Rush had a huge night off the bench and had 20 points, including four 3-pointers and six rebounds. David Lee and Dorell Wright both had 15 points, while Monta Ellis contributed 12. Stephen Curry continued to struggle with his shot and had just three points on seven shots.

Tyreke Evans played well for the Kings and just missed the triple-double, scoring 22 points, dishing out nine assists and bringing down 10 rebounds. DeMarcus Cousins had a big night with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Isaiah Thomas did his best in the fourth quarter to will Sacramento to victory, but his 11 points came up short.

The Warriors will have a day off and will face the Utah Jazz on Thursday night. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT.

Warriors Vs. Kings Preview: Rivalry Renewed At Oracle Arena

The Bay Area's two NBA franchises will be duking it out not once but twice this week as the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings square off at Oracle Arena Tuesday night to prove who's the best in the Bay. Well, at least until Saturday when they play again in Sacramento.

Neither team have taken the league by storm this season as both the Kings (6-14) and Warriors (6-12) have had some growing pains with their new coaches. It also marks Sacramento head coach Keith Smart's first look at his previous team, where he was an assistant and head coach for eight seasons.

These two teams always play each other tough, splitting their four meetings last season with both Warriors victories eventually coming in overtime. This meeting should be no different with both teams hungry for victoires and Bay Area bragging rights. Much of the W's success will be contingent upon how Stephen Curry performs, and four games back after missing eight straight with his recurring ankle injury, he admits it still isn't quite right:

It doesn't respond well after games. It takes me a while to get back, get the soreness out of it. But during the games I don't think about it, it feels good.

Hopefully it wont act up. Along with Steph, look for a lot of David Lee tonight, who averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds against the Kings last season, and of course Monta Ellis, who comes in averaging 21.4 points and 7 assists this month.

On the Kings side, watch out for Tyreke Evans, who averaged 24.5 points, five assists and four rebounds in his last two games at Oracle, and big man DeMarcus Cousins, who comes in averaging 14.7 points and 10.9 rebounds. Hopefully he doesn't give Monta another concussion.

Tipoff is set for 7:30 pm PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.

Warriors Vs. Thunder Final Score: Golden State Overpowered By OKC In 120-109 Loss

More: Recap of the Warriors loss to the Thunder

The Golden State Warriors hosted the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night. The W's were fresh off a big win over the formidable Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night and had their sights set on defeating two tough teams in a row. Unfortunately, the best team in the West proved a much more difficult riddle to solve and ended up picking up the win over the W's by a final score of 102-99.

The Warriors were down by five points heading into halftime. They were outscored 28-25 in the third quarter but went on the offensive early in the final frame. The Thunder took control again halfway through the quarter and padded their lead to hold Golden State at bay. To their credit, the Warriors hung in and continued fighting in the fourth quarter, which was the highest-scoring quarter of the game for both teams.

Coming off of his best game of the season against the Blazers, Stephen Curry was almost completely silent offensively until the fourth quarter. He finished with 15 points and six assists. Dorrell Wright led the Warriors scorers with 23 points, also picking up nine rebounds and five assists. David Lee contributed 19 points and seven boards.

On the OKC side, Kevin Durant led all scorers with another monster game, putting up 37 points and 14 rebounds. Russell Westbrook put together a double-double of 28 points and 11 assists. Serge Ibaka grabbed the third Thunder double-double of the game, finishing with 20 points and 12 rebounds.

Warriors Vs. Thunder Preview: W's Host Thunder Looking To Start Winning Streak

Coming off a nice victory over the Portland Trailblazers in their last time out, the Golden State Warriors will face another tough test at Oracle as the Western Conference leading Oklahoma City Thunder come to town Friday night.

This will be the stoutest test out of the West the Warriors (6-11) have faced thus far, and having won only one game agains the West all season, this will be a nice litmus test for the W’s as the Thunder (15-3) begin a three-game roadie in Oakland.

Stephen Curry awoke for a season-high 32 against the Blazers on Wednesday, while averaging 30.5 in the last meetings with KD and Co. Not to be outdone, Durant has averaged 30.9 average in 14 career meetings with Golden State is his second best against any team.

Durant dropped 39 points to lead Oklahoma City to a 115-114 overtime win in last March 29, with a pair Russell Westbrook’s free throws with 11 seconds to ice it.

One matchup to keep an eye on is Russell Westbrook vs. Monta Ellis. Ellis played the facilitator role against Portland and it seemed to work, but the W’s will likely need more offense from him tonight if they want to get a W, while (likely along with Curry) will have the task of trying to slow Westbrook down defensively as well. Westbrook went 4-14 from the field along with a season high-tying seven turnovers in in last game, so he likely will want to hav a rebound game tonight.

One item of note, The W’s have won 3 of the last 4 at home against Oklahoma City.

Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm PT with coverage on NBA TV.

Warriors Vs. Trailblazers, Final Score: Stephen Curry's Season-High 32 Leads W's to 101-93 Victory

The Golden State Warriors needed to show some grit in the fourth quarter against the Portland Trailblazers, coming into Oracle Arena Wednesday night with a late game meltdown fresh in their minds. But behind some solid team defense and a season-high 32 points for Stephen Curry, the W's got it done down the stretch to take the 101-93 victory.

The Warriors (6-11) entered the second half down five but came out of the locker room firing as Stephen Curry scored 16 third-quarter points to fuel a 19-8 W's run to close the third. They continued to hang tough into the fourth, holding a five point lead with six minutes to play.

Steph and David Lee kept the offense flowing, while the defense did their part down the stretch to keep the Blazers at bay, with Monta and Steph creating two clutch turnovers in the last minute to hold on for the win.

Aside from his 32 points, Steph finished with seven assists and six rebounds, while David Lee was stupendous against the towering Portland bigs, dropping 26 on 12-21 shooting. Monta played the role of facilitator tonight, taking only 9 shots from the floor for 4 points but dished out 12 dimes along the way.

Ekpe Udoh held his own very well against the Portland bigs tonight with four points and a team high seven rebounds off the bench, as well as finishing a very impressive +18. Brandon Rush had a great first half, finishing with 14 including 3-3 from downtown.

The W's finished the game shooting 51% from the floor and 55% from downtown, including 33 assists on 41 made shots. They also committed only 11 turnovers, and only three in the fourth quarter.

Portland leads the league in fourth quarter points, though the W's held them to only 20 on 41% shooting for the night, led by LaMarcus Aldridge's 18 and seven boards, while Jamal Crawford and Nicolas Batum finished with 16 apiece.

Even with the Blazers on the third night of a back-to-back-to-back, there are no easy wins in the NBA. The Blazers were fighting to the very end, and it was a much needed victory for Golden State. Hopefully it's the start of something good.

Warriors Vs. Trailblazers, Halftime Score: Portland Leads 53-48 Despite Brandon Rush's Big First Half

The Golden State Warriors need to turn their season around and in a hurry, and with the dangerous Portland Trailblazers coming in to Oracle Arena on the third night of a back-to-back-to-back, they have themselves a golden opportunity. Both teams duked it out the entire first half, with a late push before th half giving Portland the 53-48 advantage at halftime.

The Warriors were down by as much as 10 in the first quarter, but a couple of Brandon Rush three's and some nice defensive trips for the W's brought them back, forcing Portland to take jumpers late in the shot clock or creating a turnover. Both sides traded the lead back and forth in the second, but Brandon Rush kept pouring it on, leading all scorers with 14 on 5-6 from the floor and a perfect 3-3 from downtown. Rush has now hit 12 of his last 16 trey's.

Stephen Curry had a nice first half as well, dropping 12 on 5-8 shooting as well as four rebounds. David Lee added nine.

Portland was dead set on attacking the paint early and often, using their trio of trees in LaMarcus Aldridge, Nicalas Batum, and Gerald Wallace to attack the W's inside. Batum leads Portland with 11 in the first half, while Aldridge has 10.

Overall the defense was rather taught for Golden State, holding Portland to only 44% shooting as well as keeping up on the boards 18-14. They've also committed six turnovers already, something they'll have to limit in the second half.

If Golden State can finally play four quarters of Warriors basketball, they may just hang on for the win.

Warriors Owner Joe Lacob: 'We Have More Talent Than Our Record Indicates'

With all the talk this offseason made by Golden State Warriors co-owner Joe Lacob about the W’s making the playoffs, (he guaranteed it in writing), their 5-11 start to the season has been a bit deflating to the fans.

Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News took some time with Joe Lacob in a phone interview Wednesday, discussing his feelings on the start of the season.

-Q: You had high hopes, so how disappointing is it to be sitting at 5-11?

-LACOB: It is disappointing…with a new coaching staff, in fact an entire new organization, there was always that risk of a slow start, perhaps. Not that I’m blaming any of this on that.

So a little bit disappointed certainly up to this point. I think mostly because we’ve been in so many games, it’s just an odd way to lose.

Certainly we all are. Kawakami went on to ask whether or not Lacob ‘overestimated’ the level of talent on his team, which Lacob sort of try to avoid answering:

-Q: Do you believe you’ve over-estimated talent on this roster from the beginning of your ownership? I’ve said it before and I’ve tweaked you about it recently. Isn’t it just over-optimism on your part to think this is a good team?

-LACOB: Well, as of today, you have a better argument position than I do. We’re 5-11. We can’t hide from that.

We have not closed games. We have not performed to the expectations we as an ownership group and management have for this team.

Can’t hide from that. You want to print that, print that. We’ll take our blows and we’ll just move on here, see if we can’t rectify the situation and prove we were right. If not, we’ll admit we’re wrong and move on.

Lacob certainly beat around the bush, but he certainly didn’t seem pleased at how it’s turned out so far.

As to the recent talk of Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis not being the elite backcourt that they’ve been billed as, Lacob had this to say:

That is going to be a question everyone’s going to ask until we’re shown to be a victorious team.

I think we did add some size on the backcourt, but it’s young–with Klay, Brandon Rush can play the 2 and 3. I think the size issue has sort of been addressed.

But I think the guys do have to perform at a higher level than they have in terms of taking care of the ball and leading us on the floor.

If this W’s team manages to find some success in the near future and actually starts winning games, much of this talk will go away. But until they prove they can win together, questions will always abound.

Warriors Vs. Trailblazers Preview: W's Look To Fix Mistakes Against Tough Portland Squad

The Golden State Warriors are coming off of possibly their worst loss of the season with an epic collapse against the Memphis Grizzlies, blowing a 20-point second half lead with turnovers and lackadaisical effort. Now they host the Portland Trailblazers Wednesday night at Oracle, looking to fix some of their previous mistakes, and earn themselves a win.

Portland (11-7) enters the game on the third night of a back-to-back-to-back, including wins over the Grizzlies and Kings in the last two outings at the Rose Garden. Despite the schedule, the Blazers are a very dangerous team in the Western Conference, which the W’s are 0-6 against this season.

The Warriors (5-11) front court should have a fun time trying to contain Portland’s big men in LaMarcus Aldridge, averaging 25.2 points and 10.7 rebounds over the last six road games, and Marcus Camby, leading the team in blocks. Portland is simply a big team, seemingly with a size advantage at almost every starting position, meaning the W’s will have to play extra clean basketball tonight if they want to earn a win.

Look for Stephen Curry’s offense to pick up in tonight’s game after struggling in his first few games after his return, and Dorell Wright to hopefully get up some more shots, because they really need his deep ball ability to cover up those aforementioned mistakes.

If the Warriors can fix some of their own gaffes and figure out a way to play four quarters with the foot on the gas pedal, they might just earn themselves a victory this evening.

Monta Ellis On Grizzlies Loss: 'It's Embarrassing'

Golden State Warriors guard Monta Ellis took some time to speak with the media at practice Tuesday at W’s headquarters in downtown Oakland, discussing the team’s embarrassing loss to the Memphis Grizzlies Monday night at Oralce Arena:

Monta began talking about the game as a whole:

"Being up twenty, then losing on your home court, then losing the game in the fourth quarter— it hurt, it’s embarrassing….Gotta move ahead. Came here to watch film today, looked at all the mistakes that we made, try to correct them. Got another game tomorrow, we’ll see what we can do to try and turn this thing around."

Monta was then asked what he feels the team could have done at the end of the game Monday to change the outcome:

"It’s everything. Turning the ball over, defending better on the other end…getting the 50-50 balls, pretty much everything about that little stretch that we had."

The question was also proposed that the W’s may need some more talent to start winning more ballgames. Monta didn’t feel that way at all:

"No, we don’t need any help. We just need to value the ball down the stretch, execute our offense, get more 50-50 balls, we just got to take out time. That’s it, we dont need any players…Out of the 11 games we lost, we was winning nine of them in the fourth quarter."

Monta seemed very tired of answering negative questions, so I decided to ask him what he felt the team has been doing right to give them a chance to win these tight ballgames:

"We’ve been playing Warriors basketball for three quarters, and somehow we always lose it in the fourth. If we can match our fourth quarter with the first three, then we’d be good."

Let’s see how the W’s respond during their Wednesday matchup against the Blazers.

Warriors Coach Mark Jackson Discusses Grizzlies Loss at W's Practice Tuesday

After blowing a 20-point second half lead against the Memphis Grizzlies Monday night, Tuesday practice at Golden State Warriors headquarters was one of the most important sessions the team has had yet.

Head coach Mark Jackson spoke to the media (including myself) afterwards, discussing how the team must move forward after the heartbreaking loss, and what he could have done differently to come out of the game with a win:

Coach began talking about the practice a a whole:

“We had a great practice, guys got after it, feel like we got better, and we learned, we learned for what took place last night.”

Even the last few minutes I was there, it was all business. Not a whole lot of smiles after a loss like Monday’s. Jackson was asked about his team’s effort at the end of the game, which he had little to be positive about:

It’s glaring, we didn’t fight they were down, you know, 17 points and sprinting after they turned the ball over, making extra effort plays. They had no quit in them. And when we had an opportunity to grab the rope, we let it go.

Sometimes as positive as you want to be, you have to be brutally honest with the guys, individually and collectively, to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Coach was also asked what he would have done differently in the last eight minutes on Monday:

“We made mistakes, and as a coach you hold yourself responsible, it’s not just the players that gave a lead away in the fourth quarter, we all did…At the end of the day, I have to find five guys that are willing to close out ballgames.”

May fans have wondered if a change would do the W’s good, and Jackson was asked about making a change ‘for the sake of change.’ He was having nothing of it:

“No. To me that’s fake hustle coaching and I don’t believe in it.”

The Warriors are obviously working out the kinks still, unfortunately they’re having to do so on the fly. Hopefully it will all start to click soon before the W’s record is too insurmountable to make the playoffs.

Golden State Warriors Blow Big Fourth Quarter Lead, Lose 91-90 To Memphis Grizzlies

The Golden State Warriors took a game they had all sewn up, and decided to rip it apart turnover after mind-numbing turnover. The Memphis Grizzlies managed only 52 points in the first three quarters, then ripped off 39 points in the fourth and closed a 16 fourth quarter gap late. Rudy Gay had 23 points, Mike Conley had 20 points and nine assists, Tony Allen had 14 points and eight rebounds and Marc Gasol put up 15 and 11 to fuel the inspired comeback down the stretch.

Golden State has no one to blame but their own shoddy ball-handling, turning over the basketball 24 times a game, including 12 times by their starting guards. Monta Ellis had 20 points and five assists, but also lost the ball seven times. Stephen Curry wasn't much better, with 18 points on 18 shots but also five turnovers to match his five assists. Golden State shot much better (50% to 42%), but gave up seven extra offensive rebounds and had six more turnovers, giving Memphis plenty of easy fast-break baskets to come back and sneak out a big win in Oracle.

Warriors Vs. Grizzlies Preview: Warriors Look To Turn It Around Against Streaking Griz

The upstart Memphis Grizzlies come to town Monday night, sporting the best record in the Southwest division as they start a four game west coast swing against the Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena.

Memphis (9-6) is on a six game winning streak coming into tonight’s matchup, leaving the struggling Warriors (5-10) to figure out how to stop the Griz’s winnings ways. Memphis has been using solid defense and balanced production to get it done lately, not dissimilar from what Mark Jackson is trying to do with his squad.

The W’s will be out for some redemption after a heartbreaking loss to the Pacers in their last time out on a missed kick ball call by the referees. The W’s are only 1-5 at home this season, though Memphis has struggled at Oracle, losing seven of their last nine contests there including a 115-109 loss in November of 2010 last visit with Monta Ellis dropping 39 points. They may need something similar tonight as well.

Golden State is going to need to stop Rudy Gay, who comes into the game averaging 18.6 points for the Griz, and Mike Conley, averaging 16.7 a game, if they want a chance to win. Dealing with Marc Gasol may be an issue as wellwith the W’s lack of size these days, Gasol is going to be a handful down low for Lee, Biedrins and the like, which is definitely a matchup to watch for.

Also make sure to watch how Stephen Curry’s ankle holds up in his second game back. Curry seemed to be a bit winded with tired legs during the Indiana game, obviously due to his inability to train when injured. Let’s see how he does after some more practice time and recovery under his belt.

Mark Jackson Lacks No Confidence In His Golden State Warriors

When speaking to the media on Saturday, Golden State Warriors head coach Mark Jackson was adamant about the fact that his 5-10 team will be playoff bound, showing no lack in confidence despite the poor start to the season.

Question: If you guys are going to have to have a successful season – the kind of season you’ve talked about — then you guys are going to have to start winning games and that has to start happening soon. So, you still believe that’s going to happen?

Jackson: I would have to believe that’s what’s going to happen if my answer to you is nothing has changed (laughter).

There doesn’t seem to be much laughter from here on in:

Question: Is there a point when it could change or you don’t allow yourself to think that way?

Jackson: I don’t think that way. I believe in our system, I believe in our guys. We’re going to turn it around.

Question: Could there be a point when you start thinking about that (protected) draft pick and that might play into the season?

Jackson: I don’t think that way. That’s not my thought process at all. When we play the way we’re capable of playing, execute the game plan and take care of the basketball and defend, we’re a very good basketball team. And until I see otherwise, I’m going to continue to believe it.

Question: Somebody asked me the other day about you and I said that reality might be setting in with this team, that you might be realizing this team isn’t as good as you thought. Would that be incorrect?

Jackson: I guess you lied to them. … What is reality?

Question: That this team isn’t as good as you thought … That this team can’t be as good as you thought.

Jackson: No, that’s not true. In my opinion we have the best backcourt in the business, we have an all-star caliber power forward, we have solid role players, and we are a defensive-minded basketball team. We are grinding and we’ve been in position to win in eight of our 10 losses and we’ve beaten some of the best in the land. The reality is that we’re very close to being who I am convinced we are. Tell your friend I said ‘hi.’ … You are trying today.

Question: …There is a segment of people out there saying’ we’ve heard all this before.’

Jackson: The reality is I’ve got a bunch of guys that have never won that are playing winning basketball that have changed their ways from an offensive juggernaut to defensive principles where we battle, compete and give ourselves a chance. Winning in this league is a process and in that process you’ve got to be extremely patient to see the other side. It gets tough being that salmon swimming upstream. But as long as your persistent and don’t quit, you will get to the other side.

As long as the L’s keep coming, Jackson will have to deal with these kinds of questions. What he is trying to do takes time, and it’s likely to be a work in progress for a while longer.

Warriors Vs. Pacers: NBA Acknowledges Missed Kick Ball Violation

With the game tied at 91, The Golden State Warriors once again turned to Monta Ellis to take a last second shot against the Indiana Pacers, but instead got robbed on a missed call by the referees, which the NBA admitted on Saturday they blew the call that sealed the W’s fate at Oracle Friday night.

Here is their official statement about the play:

“With 5.4 seconds remaining in the Indiana-Golden State game on Jan. 20, Pacers guard George Hill intentionally kicked the ball away from Warriors guard Monta Ellis during his cross over dribble. According to rule no. 10, Section IV.b, kicking the ball or striking it with any part of the leg is a violation when it is an intentional act. The officials missed the kicked ball violation which should have resulted in a deadball situation and Golden State inbounding the ball on the sideline nearest the spot of the violation."

Doesn’t do the W’s much good now, but at least the NBA recognized they made a mistake.

Warriors Vs. Pacers, Final Score: Last Second Mistake Sinks Warriors 94-91

The last eight meetings between the Golden State Warriors and Indiana Pacers have been won by the home team, which unfortunately ended this Friday at Oracle Arena. But in a game that boasted the most lead changes of any in the NBA this year, it came down to the wire once again as a missed call at the end of the game swayed the tide in Indiana's way, leading to their 94-91 victory.

The Warriors (5-10) found themselves down five with about four minutes left, with a number of fourth quarter turnovers giving the Pacers (10-4) some easy offensive possessions to take the lead. Steph Curry was money down the stretch, scoring seven straight for the W's including a timely three with 3:07 to cut the score to two.

The Pacers held that lead until a Monta Ellis hit runner in the lane with 45 seconds to go to tie it up, forcing an Indiana timeout. Dominic McQuire pulled down a big rebound the next time down, leading to another Monta last second shot scenario.

Then the nightmare happened.

George Hill picked Monta's pocket as he was running the clock down, leading to and and-one on the other end with 1.8 seconds left, and another heartbreaking loss for the W's. Replay would later show Hill kicked the ball when Monta attempted a crossover, which was missed by the referees. Nevertheless, the Warriors still lost the game.

Monta Ellis led the way with 25 on 11-20 shooting and six assists, while Dorell Wright added a solid 18 on 4-7 from downtown. Steph Curry went 5-15 from the floor in his return, finishing with 12 points, while David Lee really struggled shooting 4-15 for 10 points, but added 14 rebounds. The W's also committed 18 turnovers as a team, compared to the 11 on the Pacers.

Danny Granger continued his great play against the Warriors, leading the game with with 26 points, David West added 18, while Roy Hibbard dropped 10 and 16 rebounds.

The good news was Steph Curry didn't hurt himself.

W's now prepare to host the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday at Oracle Arena, with tipoff set for 7:30 pm PT.

Warriors Vs. Pacers, Halftime Score: W's, Pacers Struggle Offensively To 43-43 Halftime Tie

The Golden State Warriors opened their longest homestand of the season Friday night against the Indiana Pacers, welcoming Stephen Curry back to the lineup for the first time since January 4. And with both teams shooting under 40% for the half, Golden State finds themselves tied 43-43 at the half.

The W's trailed by four after the first quarter, but opened the second with a nice run to back the lead, trading the lead back-and-forth with Indiana. Golden State has struggled a bit offensively, but some balanced production has kept them in it with Dorell Wright leading the way with 13 and four boards, Monta Ellis added 8 on 3-8 shooting, while Brandon Rush and David Lee have added five. Steph Curry is 2-8 from the floor with 5 points.

Luckily the Pacers haven't scored much better with David West and Danny Granger most of the damage thus far, scoring 10 and 15 respectfully. Former Warrior Lou Amundson has zero points in five minutes on the floor.

Someone is going to have to get it going in the second half, or the W's might begin their homestand with an ugly L.

Stephen Curry Injury: Golden State Warriors Star Guard To Play Against Pacers

Stephen Curry has had to deal with ankle injuries throughout his entire career and has missed the last few weeks with a bad sprain to the same ankle he underwent surgery on during the offseason. There were whispers that Curry may return to the court on Friday night with the Indiana Pacers in town and it looks like that will indeed be the case.

Golden State Warriors fans should be both thrilled and anxious about this news. When healthy, Curry turns the Warriors into one of the more formidable opponents in a tough Western Conference. As many have seen, though, his ankles have been a continuing issue for the last few years and you have to wonder what happens if he goes down with an injury once again.

Tipoff from Oracle Arena is set for 7:30 p.m. tonight.

Stephen Curry Injury: Curry Could Suit Up Against Pacers

According to Golden State Warriors insider Matt Steinmetz, Stephen Curry might be suiting up for the W’s this evening against the Indiana Pacers, the first time he’ll take the floor since January 4 against the Spurs.

“Hopefully I can go,” Curry said when asked at Friday shootaround if he would play. “I still have a couple more hurdles to clear before I do that.”

Curry has been electric when actually on the court with the Warriors, averaging 15.2 points and 5.6 assists in limited time this season. He’s sprained the same ankle seven times over the last 16 months, and even a offseason surgery to improve stability hasn’t helped him much.

Nate Robinson and rookie Charles Jenkins have been filing in admirably in his absence, but there’s no substitute for # 30, who will hopefully be staying away from the injury bug for a while.

Warriors Vs. Pacers Preview: W's Start Homestand Against Indiana

The Golden State Warriors are coming off a fourth-quarter meltdown that left them splitting their four-game road trip, while the Indiana Pacers head to Oracle Arena without a win there in six plus years, opening a season-high six-game homestand for the W's Friday night.

The Warriors (5-9) begin a key part of their schedule as 10 of the next 12 come at home, looking to gain some traction in the playoff race with some much needed wins. Golden State earned a 110-108 victory in January of last year on last second Monta Ellis jumper, finishing with 36 points. He dropped 45 on them the time before in 2009, which doesn't bode well for Indiana.

Nor does the fact that offseason pickups Nate Robinson and Brandon Rush have been so productive. Rush will get his first chance to play against his former Indiana teammates tonight, look for him to open it up a little off the bench. Also keep an eye on Danny Granger, who averages 29 points against the W's, and big man Roy Hibbert who will be a handful down low for Lee, Biedrins and the like.

Tipoff is set for 7:30 pm PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.

Warriors Vs. Nets, Final Score: Nets Spoil Monta Ellis' Big Night, Earn First Home Win 107-100

Both the Golden State Warriors and New Jersey Nets had a lot of incentive to win Wednesday's matchup at the Prudential Center in Newark, with the W's looking for their third straight win on the road while the Nets wanted their first home win of the season. And after a back-and-forth shootout for most of the night, the Nets used a big run down the stretch to end the Warriors winning streak and start one of their own, earning the 107-100 win.

Both teams were in shootout for a majority of the game, though the Warriors (5-9) remained just out of the Nets (4-11) reach for most of it. New Jersey would counter with a 15-4 run at the beginning of the fourth to take the lead back and never looked back. The W's scoring four points in the last five minutes of the game certainly didn't help either, including missed free throws from Monta Ellis and Dorell Wright down the stretch.

The Warriors rebounding also played a large factor in tonight's loss, getting out rebounded 45-25 including 16-7 on the offensive glass. They seemed to be in control, but couldn't keep up with the Nets barrage in the fourth quarter.

Ellis simply was doing it all for the W's tonight, dropping 30 points and five assists as well as six steals on defense. Klay Thompson was very productive off the bench, dropping 12 in 23 minutes, as were Nate Robinson and Brandon Rush, scoring nine and seven respectfully.

Dorell Wright did his thing tonight, dropping 17 points including 3-5 from three, while David Lee was in foul trouble early and never got into a rhythm, finishing with five fouls and 12 minutes on 4-11 shooting.

The Nets played very well as a unit tonight including six players in double figures led by Deron Williams' 24 points and 10 assists, and rookie MarShon Brooks' 22 and 8 boards. Kris Humphries added 18 and 15 rebounds.

Now the Warriors head home to regroup and get ready for the Pacers Friday night at Oracle.

Warriors Vs. Nets, Halftime Score: Golden State Holds 56-55 Lead

Now that the Golden State Warriors have won a few games, they're looking to keep it flowing against the New Jersey Nets Wednesday night. David Lee has been pouring it in for the W's as of late, but played more of a facilitator role in the first half as Monta Ellis and the second-unit were very efficient, leading to a 56-55 lead at the half.

Monta finished 4-8 from the floor with 13 points, while Dorell Wright added 10. David Lee only had six points in the first half but was moving the ball well and lead to a lot of good offensive possessions. Brandon Rush has continued his great play off the bench, adding 7 points in 11 minutes. Every player is producing one way or another as all W's that have seen time have scored thus far.

Four of the Five Nets starters have scored in double-digits in the first half as Kris Humphries and Deron Williams already have 10, rookie MarShon Brooks 11, and Mehmet Okur 13. Williams already has five assists, with Humphries has 9 boards in the first half.

It's looking like a shootout might be brewing at the Prudential Center. Watch out for Golden State's foul troubles in the second half as David Lee already has three.

Warriors Vs. Nets Preview: Golden State Looking For Third Straight Road Win

It took about 10 games into the season before the Golden State Warriors really started to look like they were a professional basketball team, taking some time to understand the nuances that Mark Jackson is trying to implement as well as the roles of their almost entirely new roster as well.

But the W's have started to click on their recent road trip, winners of two straight and looking for a third against the struggling New Jersey Nets at the Prudential Center in Newark. New Jersey remains winless at home on the season, and are 0-6 there dating back to the end of last season. On the other side of the coin the Warriors are looking for their first three-game winning streak on the road since way back when on Dec. 23-31, 2007.

David Lee has been in beast-mode through this road trip so far, averaging a double-double over his last 10 games of the season. He will need to play a big factor once again this evening, though the Nets front court of Kris Humphries and Johan Petro probably won't put up much of a fight against Lee.

The always dangerous Deron WIlliams has been struggling lately (8-29 from the floor in last two games) but rookie MarSon Brooks has been electric, leading the team in scoring with 19 their last time out. Keep and eye on those two this evening, they can light up the scoreboard in a hurry. But If the W's bench continues their high level of production and Monta, Dorell or someone else gets hot along with Lee, the W's should have no problem with the Nets this evening.

Tipoff is set for 4:30 pm PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.

VIDEO: Mark Jackson, David Lee Discuss Victory Over Cavaliers

Road games have been the bane of the Golden State Warriors' existence in recent memory, but have managed to string along two, count 'em two, road wins in a row, and now head to New Jersey to take on the Nets.

Warriors head coach Mark Jackson was pleased with his players performance last night at Quicken Loans Arena, and is hopefull that these recent wins are the start of something new.

Video via CSNBayArea.com:

The lynchpin of the W's recent success on the floor has been power forward David Lee, who spoke about what his play as of late has meant to the team.

Video via CSNBayArea.com:

The W's still have lots of time to get themselves into position for a playoff run, and quality road wins will certainly help their chances along the way.

Warriors Vs. Cavaliers, Final Score: David Lee Shines Again, W's Win 105-95

The Golden State Warriors have seemingly found a winning formula on their current road trip, taking out their second straight opponent on the road in the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday by the score of 105-95.

The W's held a five point halftime lead as the Cavs kept it close most of the game. But the Warriors defense was too much to handle in the fourth quarter, holding Cleveland to only 16 points on their way to their second straight victory.

The Warriors (5-8) continued to feed David Lee the rock, leading all scorers with 29 minutes and nine rebounds on 13-20 shooting from the floor. They also got terrific production form the bench with Nate Robinson dropping 17, while Brandon Rush and Klay Thompson added 12 apiece.

Monta Ellis struggled from the floor, shooting only 2-10 and finishing with 10 points, as did Dorell Wright with 10 including 0-3 from downtown. Andris Beidrins pulled down 11 rebounds as well.

The Cavaliers (6-7) used a balanced attack with Antwan Jamison and Kyrie Irving scoring 19 and 18 respectfully and Semih Erden with 14 off the bench. Omri Casspi aded 11 and Anderson Varejo 10.

The W's now head straight to New Jersey to face the Nets Wednesday, with tipoff set for 4:30 pm PT.

Warriors Vs. Cavaliers Preview: W's Hit Cleveland Looking To Build Momentum On The Road

After their first road win of the year against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, the Golden State Warriors head to Quicken Loans Arena on Tuesday looking to keep the wins coming against the Cavaliers.

There were some promising signs that guard Stephen Curry wouldn't miss his seventh straight game dealing with his recurring ankle sprain problem, but as San Francisco Chronicle reporter Rusty Simmons tweeted, he likely won't be suiting up against the Cavs:

That's bad news as the Warriors (4-8) will have to deal with Cavaliers' (6-6) rookie sensation Kyrie Irving, coming off a 25 point and seven assist performance in their 102-94 win at Charlotte on Monday, scoring the last nine in the process. Irving has been getting into a groove as of late, averaging 22.6 points on 55.0% shooting in the last five games.

David Lee and Monta Ellis made a nice one-two punch on Sunday, while the W's bench was highly productive, a formula that will need to keep working if they want to keep winning. The Cavs will be a perfect test to see if they can keep it going.

Tipoff is set for 4:00 pm PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.

Warriors Vs. Pistons, Final Score: David Lee Paces W's, Earn First Road Win 99-91

The Golden State Warriors entered the Palace of Auburn Hills Sunday evening looking for their first road win of the year against a struggling but dangerous Detroit Pistons squad. And behind a big night by David Lee, a solid second half from Monta Ellis and a great game from the W's bench, Mark Jackson earned him first road victory as a coach with a 99-91 victory.

David Lee was a force to be reckoned with this evening, leading the W's with 24 points along with six rebounds and six assists on 10-12 shooting from the field before fouling out late in the fourth quarter. Monta Ellis awoke from his slow first half to finish with 22 points and seven assists, while Dorell Wright was perfect from the free throw line, finishing with 11.

The trio of Nate Robinson, Ekpe Udoh and Brandon Rush combined for 32 with each in double-digits, while Udoh added 6 boards. Rookie Charles Jenkins got the start once again, finishing with new career records in minutes (29), assists (5), and rebounds (4).

Big man Greg Monroe was huge for the Pistons tonight, finishing with 25 points and 8 rebounds, while Tayshaun Prince added 20 and Ben Gordon 15. Chauncey Stuckey was hot off the bench with 14 as well, but would prove not enough for the now 3-10 Pistons.

With the win the W's move to 4-8 on the season, as well as earn their first victory in Detroit since 2007. They now head to Cleveland to take on the Cavaliers on Tuesday.

Warriors Vs. Pistons, Halftime Score: W's Trail 48-44 As David Lee Leads The Way

Golden State Warriors power forward David Lee has stepped it up in the first half against the Detroit Pistons at the Palace of Auburn Hills, leading the W’s with 17 points thus far. Despite Lee’s efforts Golden State still find themselves trailing at the half, largely due to Detroit’s big man Greg Monroe, helping the Pistons take a 48-44 lead into the locker room.

Lee finished the first half 7-9 from the floor, while Monta Ellis has five points on only 1-4 shooting thus far. Brandon Rush has been contributing off the bench with eight first half points, while Ekpe Udoh and Nate Robinson have 4 apiece.

Monroe finished the first half with 17 as well, along with 6 boards. Tayshawn Prince added 10 and four boards of his own. Monroe, the Pistons’ 2010 first round draft pick, was chosen one slot behind Ekpe Udoh in that draft, leaving some to criticize the pick with the production of Monroe lately. Let’s see if Ekpe can turn it up in the second half, or if the W’s can cool down Monroe.

Warriors Vs. Pistons Preview: Golden State Still Looking For First Road Win

The Golden State Warriors were looking to start their four game roadie out East on a high note against the Charlotte Bobcats, but instead are left licking their wounds as they head to Detroit to take on the Pistons Sunday afternoon at the Palace.

The Warriors (3-8) remain winless of the road this season, while the Pistons (3-9) stopped a six-game losing streak of their own against, ironically enough against the Bobcats on Friday in Charlotte.

But like many other places around the league, the Palace of Auburn Hills is not a kind place to the W’s, who have last all but one of their last 16 games there including the last four in a row. If they want to get a win, Monta Ellis is going to have to do better than he did on Saturday.

Ellis finished with 18 points, but on 6-26 shooting from the field, something that won’t get it done against Detroit. The W’s also let the young Bobcats run roughshod on them, finishing the game shooting about 50% as a team, another thing they must fix heading into this matchup.

With all the injuries, Monta and David Lee are going to have to keep their production up, and hope someone else has a big night as well to get the win.

Warriors Vs. Bobcats, Final Score: W's Fall Short On The Road, Fall To Charlotte 112-100

The Golden State Warriors were looking to get a jump start on their four-game round trip against the struggling Charlotte Bobcats, but ran into a buzzsaw of offense as rookie Kemba Walker dropped a career-high 23 points in his first NBA start to help lift Charlotte to a 112-100 victory over Golden State at the Time Warner Cable Arena on Saturday.

The Bobcats (3-10) were stuck in a six-game losing streak until the W’s came to town, despite the best efforts of David Lee. Lee had another nice game, finishing with 24 points and 16 boards, while Dorell Wright and Nate Robinson each added 12 points apiece for the Warriors (3-8), who began their roadie with a flop instead of a bang.

Gerald Henderson led all scorers with 26, Byron Mullens added 20, while D.J. Augustin added 16 as well; only Tyrus Thomas scored less than double-digits as a starter.

Monta Ellis struggled mightily this evening, shooting only 23% (6-26) from the floor, finishing with 18. Andris Biedrins had 8 and 6 rebounds.

The W’s now head to Detroit to take on the Pistons tomorrow, with tip-off set for 3:00 pm PT.

Warriors Looking For Wins On Upcoming Road Trip

The Golden State Warriors have been a work in progress since the beginning of Training Camp this season, but may have stumbled upon a perfect opportunity to build continuity and a winning swagger on their upcoming four game roadie.

With road games against the Charlotte Bobcats, Detroit Pistons, Cleveland Cavaliers and New Jersey Nets on their upcoming docket, the W’s have four opponents who currently sit at .500 or worse, mostly leaning on young players to do the brunt of the work.

David Lee had this to say about this all-important stretch of road games:

"The fact of the matter is we have four teams who are below .500 (before Thursday’s games). We need to take care of business. There’s nothing to be said if we come back with a losing record on this road trip. It should be a huge disappointment. This is a road trip where we need to take care of business and get at least three or four games to come back here right at .500. I don’t see it any other way at this point. We’re playing good basketball."

The Warriors are a combined 26-100 on the road over the past three seasons or so, but the injection of Mark Jackson into this franchise may help turn a 2-2 road trip of seasons past into a 4-0 tone setting one.

Warriors Vs. Magic: Mark Jackson Talks 'Hack-A-Dwight' In Postgame Presser

Golden State Warriors head coach Mark Jackson employed a bit off an odd game plan against the Orlando Magic- hack Dwight Howard like no one before (literally) send him to the time an NBA record 39 times in a 117-109 loss at Oracle Arena Thursday night.

Mark Jackson would explain himself in the post game press conference, noting that his players were fighting and staying in it, but couldn't come up with enough answers against Superman.

"He's [Howard] a great player, and a bad free throw shooter. Trying to give ourselves the best chance possible, tried to mess up their rhythm, take their three point shooters out of it...you have to figure out a way to stop him, and his weakness is foul shooting."

"We put ourselves in position to win the ballgame...but if we play with the energy and effort we did tonight we're going to be fine."

Warriors Vs. Magic, Final Score: Dwight Howard Sets Free Throw Record As Magic Drop W's 117-109

The Golden State Warriors knew going into their meeting with the Orlando Magic that they would struggle containing Dwight Howard, and struggle they did. Nevertheless the W's remained in the game all night as they attempted to use Howard's poor free throw shooting against him, sending him into the record books and the Magic to a 117-109 win at Oracle Arena.

The Warriors (3-7) came out firing in the first half, breaking out to a double-digit lead at one point until a late run brought the Magic (8-3) within four at the half. And after trading leads throughout the second half, Monta Ellis would take over for the W's down the stretch, scoring 11 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter, but eventually would prove not enough as Howard would finish with 45 points and 23 rebounds, dominating the game into the record books.

Golden State decided to 'hack-a-Dwight' for most of the game, committing 36 fouls as a team as they decided to take their chances with the 40% or so free throw shooting Howard. Dwight would have double-double before halftime, and end up finishing breaking the NBA regular season record of free throw attempts, eclipsing Wilt Chamberlain's old mark of 34 attempts tonight with 39 attempts, making 21 of them. It also ties him with Shaq's 39 FT attempts in the 200 NBA finals, which Mark Jackson played in.

David Lee played excellent as well, eventually fouling out late in the fourth with 26 points and 12 rebounds, while Brandon Rush played well in Dorell Wright's absence with 12 points. Klay Thompson and Nate Robinson would add 14 apiece off the bench. Four W's would finish with 5 or more fouls, while as a team took 36 less free throws than Orlando.

This was first non-overtime game they scored 100 points as the offense starts to gel more, which is a plus. But this game epitomized the W's lack of size, meaning the team is going to have to figure something out to fill the gap left behind without Kwame.

Warriors Vs. Magic, Halftime Score: W's Trying To Limit Dwight Howard, Take 57-53 Lead Into Halftime

Apparently the Golden State Warriors like to play top-shelf Eastern Conference teams.

Coming into their meeting with the Orlando Magic, the severely depleted W's would be without as Stephen Curry, Dorell Wright and Kwame Brown due to injury, but have limited Dwight Howard and the Magic

The W's opened up with a 9-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back as the Magic struggled for offense for most of the first half, aside from a nice run at the end of the haf to close the gap, playing most of the second quarter down double-digits.

David Lee and Nate Robinson have led the way thus far for the W's, with Lee dropping 17 and six boards while Robinson has 10 off the bench, as does Monta Ellis. Brandon Rush has played well in Dorell Wright's absence as well, scoring 8 on 3-4 shooting, though Andris Biedrins has only 2 points and three fouls thus far.

Golden State utilized the 'hack-a-Dwight' method towards the end of both quarters, deciding to take their chances at the line with the 40% or so free throw shooter instead of letting Orlando run offensive plays; and it's been working, kind of. Howard already has a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds, though is shooting 5-11 from the floor and 9-18 from the charity stripe. Hedo Turkoglu has 10 points.

The Warriors are trying their hardest to keep Howard contained, who should have many more points than he already does. But if the W's can turn it on offensively in the second half and keep on sending Dwight to the line, they may get out of Dodge with a win.

Warriors Vs. Magic: Dorell Wright To Sit Out With Knee Contusion

It's been said that when bad things happen they come in threes, and for the Golden State Warriors it has been just that as a third W will sit out tonight against the Orlando Magic as Dorell Wright won't be suiting up tonight with a knee contusion, according to CSNBayArea.com.

Wright suffered the injury in Tuesday night's thrilling overtime victory or the Miami Heat, banging his knee hard against the knee of Dwayne Wade, though went on to be one of the hero's of the night, scoring 20 points with a season high six threes, including one late to help seal the victory.

Head coach Mark Jackson has selected Brandon Rush to start in his place.

With Wright sitting, Curry still sidelined with his recurring ankle injury and the news that Kwame Brown will miss at least three months with surgery on his shoulder, the W's will be seriously shorthanded this evening against the Magic.

Andris Biedrins will be suiting up for the first time in the last three games though, and will be in for a treat having to deal with Dwight Howard the most of the night.

Warriors Vs. Magic, Preview: W's Look To Knock Off Dwight Howard, Magic At Oracle

The Golden State Warriors haven't earned themselves a whole lot of wins thus far in the season, but the once's they have are against the Bulls, Knicks, and Heat, three of the top teams of the Eastern Conference. Next up at Oracle comes Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic, and a whole new bag of tricks for Mark Jackson to deal with.

The Magic (7-3) are coming off their win at the Rose Garden on Wednesday, the Blazers only loss at home this season. Orlando led by as much as 23 points but won by only three. Conversely, the Warriors (3-6) did the opposite to the Heat on Tuesday, rallying from 17 down to force overtime and earn the improbable win. Something similar might have to happen Thursday night.

With Andris Biedrins expected to return and Kwame Brown questionable with a shoulder injury, a lot of responsibility will be put on Davld Lee to have a big game, and a repeat performance from Tuesday night from Nate Robinson and/or Dorell Wright wouldn't hurt either. Biedrins may not be 100% still, but will have his hands full as well dealing with Superman.

The W's only have wins against top-tier Eastern opponents. Let's see if that trend continues tonight. Tipoff is set for 7:30 pm PT with coverage on TNT and KNBR 680 AM.

Warriors Vs. Heat, Final Score: W's Force Overtime, Topple Heat 111-106 Behind Nate Robinson

The Golden State Warriors were sticking close to the Miami Heat in the first half at Oracle Arena Tuesday night, but struggled to keep up with LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and company in the second. But after a gutsy run led by Nate Robinson late in regulation, the W's forced overtime and eventually hand the mighty Heat only their second loss of the year by the score of 111-106.

The Warriors (3-6) were leading much of the first half against Heat (8-2) after David Lee, Monta Ellis and Dorell Wright lead the way early, trying to keep up with Wade and James. But the Heat came out of halftime firing on all cylinders, ballooning their four-point halftime lead to 17 with the W's not scoring a field goal in the second half until about 2:10 with a David Lee dunk, eventually taking a 12 point deficit into the fourth quarter.

The Warriors fought to bring it back within five points with 5:15 left, which ballooned back a bit, but a Nate Robinson three cut the lead to three with about two minutes left, then he followed it up next time down with a layup to cut the lead to one. Udonis Haslem would get a technical foul, which Nate drained to tie the game with 1:44 remaining.

Then the W's Achilles heel would once again rear it's ugly head as two careless turnovers lead to free throws for Miami, but Dorell Wright's three tied the game with less than 30 seconds left. Monta Ellis couldn't get anything off before the buzzer, leading to overtime.

Another Dorell Wright trey followed by an open dunk by Dorell off a Robinson steal gave the W's a three point lead with a minute to play. The would Heat get the ball with 23 seconds left on what seemed to be Warriors ball out of bounds, leading to a missed LeBron three (only his third three-point attempt of the season) and an impressive W's victory, effectively ending their six game losing streak.

Nate Robinson did his absolute best to energize the crowd off the bench, finishing the night with 24 points to lead the Warriors including a perfect 14-14 from the stripe. David Lee had a great game, dropping a solid double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds, as did Monta Ellis with 22 points. Dorell Wright played outstanding as well, eclipsing his previous season total of five three pointers with six tonight, finishing with 20 points on 6-11 from downtown.

Despite a season high 34 for Dwayne Wade and another 26 for LeBron James, the Heat suffered their first road loss of the season, while Chris Bosh added 16 and Mario Chalmers 12. And there was some bad news for the W's tonight as Kwame Brown injured his right shoulder trying to keep Udonis Haslem from scoring with about six minutes left in the fourth quarter and did not return. Hopefully it won't be a serious injury.

With their first triple digits score of the season and the most important win in Mark Jackson's young coaching career now under his belt, this will certainly be a happy birthday for Joe Lacob indeed.

Warriors Vs. Heat, Halftime Score: W's Hanging Tough With Heat, Trail 57-53 At Half

As the Miami Heat saw the return of Dwayne Wade to their lineup Tuesday evening, the Golden State Warriors would have to answer the call against a complete Heat squad, showing no signs of being hobbled. But through the first half of the game, the W's look up to the Heat's challenge by using some solid defense and a balanced offensive attack to trail the Heat 57-53 at the half.

David Lee had himself a great first half, leading the W's with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Monta Ellis added 12 on 5-11 shooting from the floor. Dorell Wright woke up from behind the arc, dropping three big trey's for 9 points to make his presence felt as well.

the Warriors showed a lot of energy on defense, getting four blocks and six steals in the first half, even flashing some zone at times. The W's continued to commit far too many turnovers, 12 to be exact, while bailing out the Heat with fouls as well, sending Miami to the line 22 times, struggling to deal with the Heat in transition as well.

Dwayne Wade certainly didn't look limited by his ankle problems, leading all scorers in the first half with 20 points, while LeBron added 15 and six assists. Norris Cole has six off the bench.

The Heat went on a bit of a run to end the half, but aside from that the W's were leading a majority of the first half. They'll have to keep up the intensity and limit the mistakes in the second half if the want to get themselves their first win in their last six games.

Stephen Curry Injury: Warriors Guard Suffers Only Ankle Sprain

Looks like Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors could be back in action sooner than most people thought he'd be. His ankle does not have any serious structural damage and should be ready to go sooner than you realize.

Larry Riley released this statement:

"Stephen Curry was examined by Warriors’ Team Orthopaedist Tim McAdams on Saturday, January 7, prior to our game in Oakland and again by Dr. Bob Anderson (the doctor who performed Stephen’s surgery this past offseason) yesterday, January 9, in Charlotte, NC. Following the examinations and consultations with both doctors, the diagnosis of Stephen’s injury remains a sprained right ankle with no structural damage.

"Stephen will continue to receive treatment and undergo rehabilitation therapy. He will be cleared to play whenever he is able to pass a functionality test on his right ankle."

Curry's previous ankle injuries have always been a source of consternation for Golden State fans because they're always uncertain how long he can stay on the floor and be an active guard. With Curry out, the Warriors pretty much have to rely on Monta Ellis as their mainstay guard and ride him the entire way, and that's not a terrible healthy way for the team to function.

Curry is still being listed as day-to-day. Still, his history of ankle issues have to trouble any basketball GM. The Warriors need to make sure Curry is 100% healthy before throwing him into action.

Warriors Vs. Heat Preview: LeBron Visits Oracle, Possibly Without Dwayne Wade

The Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors have both had struggles this season with injuries to a star player on their squad, though the Heat have only one loss to show for it, while the W's have only two wins. And as Stephen Curry will sit out once again with an ankle injury, Dwayne Wade may finally be getting back into gear Tuesday night at Oracle Arena.

According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst Dwayne Wade will possibly try to suit up this evening after getting some treatment on his ankle :

Both Wade and LeBron had missed time for the Heat (8-1) this season, but that isn't going to slow them down any this year. They are a deeper, more disciplined team than last season, and key pickups like Shane Battier can attest to that. But this is the NBA, where 'amazing' used to happen a couple seasons ago, and even the Heat could fall to the W's, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

For what it's worth, Coach Mark Jackson has been saying all the right things, but not with the desired results:

"The great teams think, `What's going to happen now to win this game?" first-year coach Mark Jackson said. "The teams that have a history of losing think, `What's going to happen that's been happening that's going to cause us to lose?'"

What's going to happen now to win the game? Well, first off, the W's will have matchup problems all night as to who will guard LeBron, and if Wade suits up, then you have yourself another big problem as well. This will be the toughest test the team has faced all season, especially defensively, meaning of they want to win, they'll have to realy lock them down. David Lee and Dorell Wright will also have to have big nights tonight along with Monta if they want to hang with the firepower of Miami, and limit the turnovers because we all know you can't give Miami free buckets.

Tipoff is set for 7:30 pm PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.

Dwyane Wade Injury: Miami Heat Guard Didn't Practice, Gametime Decision Vs. Warriors

Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat has always struggled with his foot issues. He takes quick vicious steps on the court and it always seems to cause him trouble during the season. Wade rarely plays a whole season without having to miss time. He needs the rest to ensure he's ready for the playoff run.

With a short and extended season to deal with in 2011-12, the Heat might have to be judicious with how they use Wade. Brian Windhorst of ESPN reports.

Dwyane Wade (foot) did not practice today, once again will be gametime decisions vs. Warriors tomorrow.
Jan 09 via Twitter for iPhoneFavoriteRetweetReply

Wade's absence might not be a big deal against Golden State, who aren't exactly the deepest team. LeBron James and Chris Bosh will probably be more than enough to deal with a team that is even smaller than they are. And of course, if he shows up for this one, it'd be a huge upset for the Warriors to pull off victory.

VIDEO: Monta Ellis Discusses Last Second Shot Vs. Jazz

After a disheartening 88-87 loss at Oracle to the Utah Jazz, Golden State Warriors guard Monta Ellis discussed his feeling about taking the loss, the team's fifth in a row, putting much of the blame on himself for how the game ended.

Now, Monta finished with a game-high 32 points in 36 plus minutes for the W's last night, and was seemingly their only viable option down the stretch in the 4th quarter. Though he still told the media the loss was 'on him.' But Warriors insider Matt Steinmetz feels Ellis needs to afford himself more time for a game-winning play:

The Warriors had 11 seconds and Ellis dribbled for much of it...[Ellis] puts himself in a position where he doesn't leave himself an extra second or two to improvise, which is a big part of his game. Instead, he puts pressure on himself to make something happen quickly...

Bottom line is when he winds down the game clock too far, has to be perfect, because it's clear his goal is for the shot to go in as the buzzer is sounding. But he's got to give his team a chance for an offensive rebound or quick foul...give himself the opportunity to make a pass.

Either way, the Warriors need to stop leaving themselves in positions like that with turnovers and bad decisions, which have led them to 5 straight losses now and the Miami Heat next up on the docket.

Warriors Vs. Jazz Final Score: W's Lose At Home In Final Seconds, 88-87

The Golden State Warriors hosted the Utah Jazz on Saturday night at the Oracle Arena. The Warriors were hoping to get back on the winning track, but things didn't quite work out that way. Golden State suffered the 88-87 loss to fall to a 2-6 record. Utah, meanwhile, picked up their first road win of the season.

The Warriors had a rough first quarter, falling behind 27-19 in the opening frame. They battled back in the second and third quarters, outscoring the Jazz in those quarters by 27-18 and 20-18. Despite leading 66-63 heading into the fourth quarter, the final seconds were not kind to the W's.

Golden State led 87-85 with 0:41 left. Al Jefferson sank a shot at 0:33 to tie the game up. Monta Ellis had the ball stolen on a bad pass and Gordon Hayward drew a shooting foul with 11 seconds left, but only made one of his two free throws. The Warriors were down by one point with nine seconds left on the clock , but Monta Ellis missed a jumper at the buzzer and the Jazz came away with the win.

Ellis led all scorers with 32 points, also picking up three rebounds and six assists. David Lee notched a double-double for Golden State with 13 points and 15 rebounds.

Warriors vs. Jazz, Preview: Clash of Styles meet at Oracle Arena

The Utah Jazz are a big team. And when I mean big, I mean huge. There team consists of bruisers and big men would pound the rock and work the glass with efficiency. The Golden State Warriors have been trying to get bigger, but still are a slashing, jumper-first team, bringing an interesting clash in styles to Oracle Arena this Friday night.

David Lee, Kwame Brown, Ekpe Udoh and the like will have a tough test with guys like Al Jefferson, Derrick Favors and rookie Enes Kanter this evening, likely leaving it up to guys like Monta Ellis to get the job down offensively, though the usually high-flying W’s are yet to score 100 points this season.

Though both teams are on the second half of a back-to-back, the W’s should try to get out in transition early to get those big guys tired, and hopefully earn themselves a win this evening.

The Jazz have struggled away from home this season though, still looking for their first road win. But the W’s have now lost four in a row, and are in desperate need of a win to stop the bleeding and get back on track.

Tipoff is set for 7:30 pm PT with coverage of CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.

Warriors vs. Lakers, NBA Scores: Kobe Bryant's 39 Points Sink Warriors 97-90

The Golden State Warriors were out for their first win at the Staples Center in four years against the Los Angeles Lakers Friday night, though were without two of their starters in Stephen Curry and Andris Biedrins. And despite a terrific performance from Nate Robinson in is his Golden State debut and a well balanced attack from the starters and the bench, the W's fell just short as the Lakers won the game by the score of 97-90.

After getting out to a first half lead, the Warriors fell behind by double-digits towards the beginning of the fourth quarter, but showed some grit at the end of a game to get themselves back into it, something they haven't done much of thus far this season. But in the end Kobe Bryant and Co. would prove too much for the Warriors (2-5), extending their extensive losing streak to the Lakers (5-4) at Staples.

Nate Robinson was electric in his first half Warrior, scoring all nine of his points in the first half, but went cold in the second. Monta Ellis and Dorell Wright both started off slow, Though Monta ended with 18 and 10 assists, while Dorell scored his first points in the last three games, finishing 4-8 from the floor with 10 points . David Lee had himself a solid double-double as well with 15 and 11 boards.

Kwame Brown played well in his first start as a Warrior, dropping 13 points and grabbing six boards, while Klay Thompson had his best game as a professional, scoring 14 off the bench and going 2-3 from downtown.

It was once again the Kobe Bryant show for the Lakers, taking over in the second half, finishing with 39 points. Pau Gasol and Matt Barnes added 17 and 16 respectfully, while Troy Murphy added 7 off the bench. Andrew Bynum finished with 9 and a game high 16 rebounds.

In a game that Lee and Kwame outscored Pau and Bynum, and finally showing some fight at the end of the game, there are some positives to take away from tonight's game. But going 0-3 on the road trip isn't cutting it, especially with 18 turnovers and the Jazz to deal with tomorrow back at Oracle.

Warriors vs. Lakers, Halftime Score: Nate Robinson Shines In W's Debut, Warriors Lead 39-35

With Stephen Curry out tonight for the Golden State Warriors, they would have to supplement some offense one way or another against the Los Angeles Lakers. Enter Nate Robinson, taking the floor for the first time in a Warriors uniform, injecting the team with 9 points in 17 minutes, keeping the W's just ahead of the Lakers by the score of 39-35 at Staples Center.

Aside from nine first half turnovers the Warriors have played a rather decent (albeit low scoring) first half, keeping the Lakers to only 37% shooting from the floor while forcing 10 Laker turnovers as well. Aside from Robinson it's been rather bleak offensively for the Warriors though with Monta Ellis 4-9 from the floor with eight points, David Lee with four and nine boards, and Dorell Wright once again scoreless.

The bench was a factor for the W's in the first half, with Kaly Thompson adding five, while Ekpe Udoh had some nice moves over Pau Gasol, adding five from off the bench as well. Hopefully it keeps up in the second half.

Kobe Bryant leads the way for L.A. with 13, while Pau Gasol has only six points, though did grab 11 first half rebounds.

If the Warriors can turn some of these turnovers into some scoring opportunities, they might have had a big halftime lead, but any lead on the road is a good one, especially against the Lake Show. Should be a good second half.

Warriors vs. Lakers: Andris Biedrins Will Not Play In Los Angeles

The Warriors knew they would not have Stephen Curry at their disposal on Friday night as they take on the Los Angeles Lakers and now they will be without big man Andris Biedrins to slow down Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum. This is a substantial blow to Golden State and a win will be very tough to come by at Staples Center with the team short-handed.

In a bit of good news, the Lakers will be without Josh McRoberts off the bench, although he is not too much of a threat to burn the Warriors. Kobe Bryant continues to battle a severe injury to his wrist and is reportedly receiving injections to numb the area before every game.

Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. from Los Angeles. For more on the Warriors, head over to Golden State Of Mind. Lakers fans should check out Silver Screen and Roll.

Warriors Vs. Lakers: Charles Jenkins To Start For Curry, Andris Biedrins Game-Time Decision

According to CSN Bay Area Warriors insider Matt Steinmetz, rookie guard Charles Jenkins will get the start against the Los Angeles Lakers Friday night in the absence of Stephen Curry once again, while big man Andris Biedrins will be a game time decision with an ankle issue as well.

Jenkins, the second-round pick out of Hofstra will start over the newly acquired Nate Robinson or other backup Ish Smith, who according to Steinmetz may be falling out of favor with Mark Jackson.

As for Biedrins, Steinmetz tweeted earlier on Friday that he did the big fella didn't practice on Thursday as he is dealing with an ankle/toe injury suffered last game against the Spurs.

It's got to be difficult for Jackson to try and build continuity with so many of his starters missing time this season already. On the other hand, it gives the other guys play time and opportunities to step up and build their confidence against Kobe and Co. this evening.

Warriors Vs. Lakers Preview: Warriors Head To Los Angeles Looking To Stop Skid

The fact that the Golden State Warriors haven't won a game against the Los Angeles Lakers in about four years now isn't the team's main concern this evening, it's that they will once again be without a key starter as Steph Curry will sit once again with his sore right ankle as the Lake Show hosts the W's at Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.

The Warriors (2-4) collapsed in the fourth quarter once again against the San Antonio Spurs in their last time out 101-95, seemingly losing the wind in their sails once Curry left with his injury late in the third quater. Coach Jackson will definitely have a tough test dealing with the one-two punch of Andrew Bynum and Kobe Bryant on both ends of the court, and hopefully can keep them in check enough to give one of their scorers a chance to get them a win.

Without Curry, that leaves it up to Monta Ellis, David Lee and the like once again to shoulder the brunt of the offense, though one player that needs to show up is Dorell Wright, who hasn't scored a single point in his last two games. The bench has been rather anemic aside from Kwame Brown and Brandon Rush after starting out with some much electricity, though new addition Nate Robinson may be of help with that.

As for the Lakers (4-4) they've already squeezed two more games out of their schedule than the W's, but are still trying to come together under Mike Brown, falling 107-96 up in Portland on Thursday. It will likely be a heavy dose of Kobe, and Monta from both teams, possibly setting up an good old Western shootout at Staples, though Golden State has lost six straight to the Lakers there. The W's have been a bit of a panacea to other teams woes thus far (see Suns & Spurs games), hopefully that won't be the case this evening.

Stephen Curry Injury Update: Curry To Sit Out Friday Against Lakers

The Golden State Warriors will once again be without Stephen Curry as his troublesome right ankle will force him to sit out once again, this time against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Curry missed practice on Thursday, causing Warriors general manager Larry Riley to issue a statement regarding his injury on Thursday:

"At the end of last season, Stephen Curry was examined by Dr. Mark Myerson in Baltimore and Dr. Bob Anderson in Charlotte, both renowned foot and ankle specialists. Both doctors recommended ligament reconstruction on his right ankle, which was performed by Dr. Anderson in May of 2011. Since that time, Dr. Tim McAdams and the Stanford medical team have continued to work with Dr. Anderson and the Warriors' athletic training staff regarding Stephen's ankle. His summer-long rehabilitation went extremely well and no problems were encountered until he suffered a sprain of the ankle at Sacramento on December 20.

"Stephen performs functional tests well. He is taped, wears an ankle brace and has a different shoe. For no lack of effort on anyone's behalf, the problem has continued. At this point, Stephen will continue to receive treatment and rehabilitation and his status is day-to-day. He will be evaluated by Dr. McAdams prior to our game in Oakland on Saturday, when we hope to determine the best way to proceed."

Perhaps the continued re-aggravation of the injury is causing the ligaments to become looser, but it is looking like the sprains are coming easier with each passing episode. The W's desperately need his production, and if they ever want to land Dwight Howard, they will likely need a healthy Curry to do so.

Warriors Show Strong Interest in Dwight Howard

According to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, the Golden State Warriors have become an 'agressive suitor' for current Orlando Magic big man Dwight Howard, even if it mean's bringing him in as a 'rental' for a season.

Here are some of the parameters that Wojonarowski feels must be met if the Magic were to consider shipper Howard to the Bay Area:

For the Magic to become intrigued with package, two things would likely have to appeal to them: rebuilding around young point guard Stephen Curry; and the Warriors' salary-cap space to absorb the three years and $34 million left on Hedo Turkoglu's contract.

Yikes.

Curry's oft-injured right ankle may pose a problem to this sort of deal as the Warriors are likely to try and part with either Curry or Monta Ellis for Howard, though Curry's recovery and progress through these sprains will play a large factor as well.

The Warriors think they can sell Howard on the possible endorsement money 'of a global NBA star in Silicon Valley,' as well making him the lone NBA superstar in the market along with a new Adidas deal to boot. That money would certainly play a factor considering Howard would get about $30 million less over the length of a contract extension if he left this summer for the Bay.

Wojo feels the W's best bet would be with a three-team trade that involved Andrew Bynum and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Stephen Curry Injury Update: 'It's The Worst It's Been'

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry went down for the third time this season with a sprained ankle against the San Antonio Spurs Wednesday night, and spoke to the media after the game about the condition of his surgically repaired right ankle.

"It’s just another re-aggravation of the same thing that’s been happening. Another frustrating incident I have to deal with it. This is the worst it’s been (pain). I’m sure it has to do with the fact that it’s the third time. It’s hard to say exactly how it will react. I did put weight on it and tried to tape it back up and lace it back up but it started to stiffen up. We’ll have to see how it reacts tomorrow. But it’s just deja vu again for me."

The next step is what to do with Curry now. The ankle seems to be getting sprained more easily after each incident, and may need a significant amount of time to rest and recuperate.

Luckily the W’s added Nate Robinson to the team today, who can help out with some of the scoring that Curry has been bringing. The saddest part is that every time Curry gets hurt, he is playing really well.

Speedy recovery sir.

Spurs 101, Warriors 95: Monta Ellis' Huge Night Not Enough, Warriors Lose 27th Straight In San Antonio

The Golden State Warriors were out to break the longest road winless streak in the NBA against the San Antonio Spurs Wednesday night, where the haven't won at the AT&T Center since 1997. But after a great start from Monta Ellis and Steph Curry, the dynamic duo couldn't do it all themselves as the Warriors fell by the score 101-95, extending their winless streak in San Antonio to 27 straight games.

Monta dropped 21 first half points while Curry added 17 of his own to give the W's a 8 point halftime lead, though the second half was a different story. Curry and Ellis cooled off a bit in the third quarter as the Spurs stayed in it and even took the lead at one point, then it happened. Again.

Late in the third quarter, Steph Curry was dribbling the ball up court, and apparently stepped the wrong way and re-tweaked his oft-injured right ankle, and did not return. That is when the momentum started to swing the Spurs way.

Aside from Ellis the W's began to look a bit overwhelmed at the end of the game, and not even the Monta show down the stretch would be enough. Monta ending the game with 38 points, shooting a perfect 50% from the floor and downtown, while Klay Thompson helped pick up the slack after Curry went down, adding 10 off the bench. David Lee added 13 in his return from illness on Monday, while Dorell Wright had himself his second straight scoreless game.

Tony Parker and Richard Jefferson led the way for the Spurs, scoring 21 and 17 respectfully, though T.J. Ford and Daniel Green were huge off the bench in the fourth quarter, as were the Spurs three point shooting (58%). Tim Duncan added 15 and 11 boards, while DeJuan Blair had 12. The role players were there for San Antonio, they simply weren't for Golden State.

Crumbling late and taking another frustrating road loss is likely not in Mark Jackson's game plan, but he's going to have to figure it out in a hurry, because this a a very bad habit to start.

With the loss the W's move to 2-4 on the year. Full box score can be found here.

Stephen Curry Injury Update: Curry Leaves Spurs Game After Re-Tweaking Right Ankle

With only a few minutes left in the third quarter Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry was dribbling the ball up court and apparently took a wrong step on his bad right ankle, re-injuring it and having to leave the game.

Curry would head back to the locker room and seemed to be in significant pain as his surgically repaired ankle keeps taking a beating seemingly every other game. His status remains uncertain and his return to the game is highly questionable.

Curry was rolling for the first three quarter of play, scoring 20 points in 30 minutes on 7-11 shooting from the floor. The team has already gotten him new shoes to add support and obviously wrap it immensely, but the oft-injured ankle seems to have lost a lot of stability.

Warriors Vs. Spurs, Halftime Score: Monta Ellis, Steph Curry Dominate First Half, Warriors Lead 53-45

The Golden State Warriors are looking to end a 26-game winless streak at the AT&T Center Wednesday night against the San Antonio Spurs, and without Manu Ginobli, it may just be their time. And after a first half that saw Monta Ellis and Steph Curry shoot lights out form the floor, the Warriors have a eight point lead heading into the locker room by the score of 53-45.

The offense was firing in the first quarter as Monta and Steph scored 21 of the team's 26 in the first quarter, shooting a combined 9-11 from the floor while finishing with a 16-7 run. The defense held the Spurs to 31% shooting and some timely unforced errors.

The W's carried that energy on both ends of the floor into the second quarter as well, holding the Spurs to 36% from the floor for the half along with four steals, six blocks, and six San Antonio turnovers. Monta ended up with 21 first half points on 9-12 shooting form the floor, including 3-4 from downtown. Not to be outdone, Curry dropped 17 and was 6-7 from the floor, including 3-4 from downtown as well. David Lee added seven points in the first half, while Kwame Brown added four.

Tim Duncan and DeJuan Blair each dropped 10 points in the first half, while Tony Parker has eight and four assists.

If the W's can keep from crumbling down the stretch like their last two games, they might just get out of San Antonio with their first win there in on over a decade.

Warriors Officially Sign Nate Robinson

According to CSN Bay Area's Golden State Warriors insider Matt Steinmetz, the team has officially completed their deal to bring free agent point guard Nate Robinson to the W's.

Robinson underwent a successful physical earlier on Wednesday and is expected to join the team Thursday for practice in Los Angeles. Robinson will suit up as a Warrior for the first time on Friday against the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center, quite the showcase for his opening act in the Bay.

Robinson moved back and forth between the Bay and the Seattle area growing up, matriculating at James Logan High School in Union City for a year, so this is a bit of a return to the Bay for Nate.

The 5'9" spark plug has bounced between the Thunder, Celtics, and Knicks in his six year career, averaging 6.8 points and 1.9 assists an average of 23 minutes a game. This move is seen as a risk by some, and his reputation as a me-first type of player doesn't really seem to fit with the team's new mantra, or defensive-minded style.

Many fans (including myself) had a nice facepalm when Kwame Brown was signed, though he has played decent in his time thus far. Hopefully the front office is simply pulling a 2010 San Francisco Giants by building a winning team of castoffs and misfits (fingers crossed).

Warriors Vs. Spurs: David Lee Expected to Play For Golden State

According to CSN Bay Area's Golden State Warriors insider Matt Steinmetz, power forward David Lee will be suiting up this Wednesday to take on the San Antonio Spurs after missing Monday's game in Phoenix will an illness.

Per Steinmetz on Twitter:

The W's missed Lee's production in their 102-91 loss to the Suns on Monday, who is currently averaging 18.8 points and a team-high 8 rebounds thus far in the season. The Warriors will need all hands on deck to take on the Spurs at the AT&T Center, a place the W's haven't won since February of 1997.

With the Lee-Monta-Steph trifecta looking like it will reunite this evening, hopefully the spell that San Antonio has over the Warriors in the Lone Star state will finally come to an end tonight.

Warriors Vs. Spurs Preview: Without Ginobli, Warriors Eye Long Awaited Road Win In San Antonio

As the Golden State Warriors look to rebound from their mistake-ridden loss in Phoenix on Monday, the San Antonio Spurs are looking for ways to fill the gap left behind by Manu Ginobli breaking a finger in his shooting hand. The Spurs are out for their 27th straight home victory over the W's, though with the likely reunion of starters David Lee, Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry the Warriors will likely have something to say about that.

The Spurs (3-2) lost all three games they were sans-Manu last year, and with him now missing extended time, the team will have to make some adjustments:

"It's going to be tough for us because he was playing at an All-Star level," point guard Tony Parker said. "And now we're going to have to have everybody pick it up."

Look for youngsters James Anderson and rookie Kawhi Leonard to see an uptick in minutes with Ginobli out, but Tony Parker and Tim Duncan will also have to shoulder much of the load.

As for the Warriors (2-3) they will hopefully have their trio of starters healthy and active for this game, something they've had only twice this season. David Lee's status is still uncertain, but hopefully will suit up. These guys need to be playing together, especially with all of the new faces around them, to gain continuity, though head coach Mark Jackson knows he needs to get rolling:

"I understand this is a process but this is a 66-game season and we need to speed up the process. I will find guys that are playing well, competing and executing the game plan and if that means playing five guys 48 minutes, I will."

The Warriors have been playing solid for three quarters or so over the past few games, then slowing down and losing in the fourth quarter. The bench has been contributing regularly, but If they can limit the mistakes and keep up the intensity on defense, they can make it a lot easier on themselves to get a win. Though the AT&T Center isn't exactly a kind place to them. The Warriors haven't won here since Valentine's Day in 1997; that's 26 consecutive games, and the longest road losing streak in the NBA.

Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.

Golden State Warriors Could Be Signing Nate Robinson

The Golden State Warriors have a great starting guard combination in Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis. However, looking at their bench doesn't inspire confidence, as they have the talented but green Klay Thompson and the inexperienced Ishmael Smith and Charles Jenkins running point. So it would make sense for the Warriors to look for a free agent.

Looks like they've found their man. Marcus Thompson of the Bay Area News Group reports.

Warriors are close to signing free agent guard Nate Robinson, multiple sources confirmed.

Robinson could sign as soon as Wednesday and join the team Friday in Los Angeles.

Sam Amick reports the deal would be for one year and $1 million.

Robinson has had trouble fitting into a rotation lately, especially since his trade from the New York Knicks. Although he performed well for the Celtics at times, he fell out of favor last season and was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he was commonly involved in mop-up duty. The Warriors are hoping for a little bit more than that.

Warriors Vs. Suns, NBA Scores: Suns Capitalize On W's Mistakes, Earn First Home Win 102-91

The Golden State Warriors saw the return of Monta Ellis Monday afternoon against the Phoenix Suns, but were without another top scorer in big man David Lee due to illness. The W's have struggled at the US Airways Center over the past few years, and today was no different as the Suns exploited a laundry list of Warriors mistakes, eventually earning their first home win by the score of 102-91.

The Warriors bailed the Suns offense out in the first half by sending them to the line, giving Phoenix a four-point halftime lead. And after a few lead swaps in the third quarter, the Suns took over down the stretch with clutch threes and solid defense to put away the Warriors for good. The Suns took advantage of the 17 Warriors turnovers, though played a rather even game otherwise.

Dominic McQuire played very well in David Lee's absence, scoring 14 and and grabbing 9 rebounds, while Monta Ellis lead the way with 18 and 11 assists. Steph Curry was in foul trouble all game long, scoring 10 points in only 23 minutes, while Dorell Wright was scoreless on the afternoon.

The W's also got good production out of their bigs today, especially Ekpe Udoh and Kwame Brown off the bench, who scored 11 and 9 respectfully with a combined 10 boards. Brandon Rush added 13 off the bench in 32 minutes of play, while rookies Klay Thompson and Charles Jenkins added six a piece.

As for the Suns, rookie Markief Morris excelled off the bench, scoring 16 in 32 minutes along with 9 boards, though it was the Steve Nash show once again, scoring a game-high 21 points along with 9 assists. Jared Dudley dropped 15, while Shannon Brown had 10 off the bench. Phoenix scored much more than their 89 point average coming into the game, and dominated the glass 49-36. Apparently the W's are the Suns panacea.

With the loss the Warriors move to 2-3 on the season, and now haven't won in Phoenix in their last 13 attempts. Full box score can be found here.

Warriors Vs. Suns: Monta Ellis To Play in Phoenix

According to CSN Bay Area’s Golden State Warriors Insider Matt Steinmetz, SG Monta Ellis will rejoin the team for their Monday meeting with the Phoenix Suns in the desert, reuniting the W’s back court for the first time since Saturday.

Ellis had been dealing with the death of his Grandmother in Mississippi, but was present at a team breakfast Monday morning and will be good to go later today.

Ellis was sorely missed against the 76ers, as without the team’s leading scorer they let the Sixers run away with the game in the second half, losing by the score of 107-79. Hopefully Ellis can get it rolling against Phoenix, a team that has struggled offensively thus far this season; a far cry from Phoenix teams of yesteryear.

Warriors Vs. Suns, NBA Preview: W's Look For Elusive Win In Phoenix, Possibly Without Monta Ellis

The Golden State Warriors haven't had much luck at the US Airways Center as of late. In fact, they haven't won a game their in their last 12 tries, and may be without the scoring of Monta Ellis once more Monday afternoon against the Phoenix Suns.

Ellis missed Saturday's game in Philadelphia due to the death of his Grandmother in Mississippi, and may miss Monday's contest as well. First-year coach Mark Jackson is understanding of his situation:

"Family is first," Jackson said. "He lost a grandmother who he loves dearly, and we want him to take as much as possible, or as much time that he needs, to take care of home."

That means the Warriors (2-2) will have to use what they have, which absolutely flopped in the second half against the 76ers. They'll have to bring their 'A' games to the desert if they want to get a win.

The Suns are coming off a road loss of their own at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder, though the usual high-flying Suns teams of the past are now a memory as this team gets it done with defense with it's lack of scoring:

"We don't have very much in, to be honest with you," Suns coach Alvin Gentry said. "What we're trying to do is we're trying to become real efficient in what we have in and if we become really efficient with that, then we can move on to something else."

The Suns veteran presence is a huge advantage to grind out games when you aren't scoring many points, though the Warriors will be forced to do the same without Monta, leaving it up to Steph Curry, David Lee and the like to pick of the slack in Phoenix.

Tipoff is set for 12:30 p.m. PT Monday with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.

Warriors Vs. 76ers Final Score: Early Lead Disappears As Warriors Fall At Home, 107-79

The Golden State Warriors were coming off a strong win over the New York Knicks as they hosted the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday in Oakland. Despite strong contributions from Stephen Curry and David Lee, the Warriors came up far short in a losing effort that dropped them to 2-2 on the season. All four games so far have been played at home. The 76ers also hold a 2-2 record, although all of their games to date have been played on the road.

The Warriors managed to pick up a 25-19 lead at the end of the first quarter, looking like it might be easy sailing from there although they were playing without one of their star players, Monta Ellis, who was away due to family issues. Sadly, they were brought down to earth in short order as the 76ers outscored them 31-17 in the second quarter. It was 50-37 at halftime and the Philadelphia squad never looked back.

The 76ers were buoyed by point guard Louis Williams, who racked up 23 points and led all scorers. Also turning in a strong game for Philadelphia was center Spencer Hawes, who recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Curry led Warriors scoring with 21 points, adding four rebounds and four assists. The only other Golden State player to score double-digits was David Lee, who put together 19 points and eight rebounds.

Monta Ellis Status Update: Warriors Guard Will Miss 76ers Game

Monta Ellis, the Golden State Warriors shooting guard and leading scorer, will miss the team's New Years Eve game against the Philadelphia 76ers due to a recent death in the family.

According to Marcus Thompson of the Contra Costa Times, Ellis' grandmother passed away on Christmas morning and the Warriors guard is still in Mississippi with his family. Her funeral was today and he will be unable to join his teammates in time for the game. He will stay with his family on Saturday before rejoining the Warriors on Sunday in Phoenix in time to play the Suns on Sunday.

Ellis averages 21 points per game and 7.7 assists and the Warriors will have a tough time replacing him against a team that averages just over 100 points per game. Brandon Rush and Klay Thompson will likely fill in for Ellis while he's with his family.

Golden State Warriors Won't Sign Kyrylo Fesenko, According to Report

The Golden State Warriors won’t be in need of the services of free agent big man Kyrylo Fesenko after all, according to CSN Bay Area’s Warriors insider Matt Steinmetz.

Fesenko came to the Bay Area Wednesday night to assumedly meet with the team, but according a Warriors spokesperson, the team “decided to go in another direction."

Golden State were looking for some more size and depth behind Andris Biedrins and Kwame Brown at the center position, yet still a good amount of size without him. Fesenko will once again become a free agent after playing the past four seasons for the Utah Jazz. He started one game for them last season and appeared in 53, averaging 2.3 points and 2 rebounds in 8.3 minutes per.

What this ‘other direction’ the team is going is yet to be seen, but they may have simply wanted to keep the rest of their extra cap space for a ‘rainy day.’

Three Games In, Warriors Starting To Come Together

Aside from a late collapse during their season opener on Christmas night, the Golden State Warriors have been playing well, taking down two Eastern conference playoff contenders at Oracle, and handedly at that. It’s still very early, but the Mark Jackson experiment might actually be working.

One thing that is noticeably different from last season already is the bench, and I don’t just mean the new faces. Under Keith Smart the W’s reserves were often lackadaisical, but now bring energy and efficiency, especially guys like Brandon Rush and Dominic McQuire. The addition of Kyrylo Fesenko and Kwame Brown will also have a big impact as well, as the Warriors now have five players 6-10 or bigger, and are definitely more athletic.

The other thing I’m noticing is the fact that players seem to be playing within themselves more, they have their assignments and they are sticking to them. Smart never seemed to get that from the players, never had much consistency. And now that they have some confidence under their belt, the W’s will have one more game on their opening homestand before heading out for a three game roadie the first week of 2012.

The W’s didn’t get those big splash names during the offseason, but they’ve got guys that are playing within their roles and getting the job done. Let’s see if this can hold up throughout the season, especially away from Oakland.

Warriors Vs. Knicks: Monta Ellis Steps Up, Leads Golden State To 92-78 Victory

The Golden State Warriors had to make do without a point guard, as Stephen Curry continues to struggle with ankle issues. So why not use Monta Ellis and let him handle the ball a bit.

Ellis was four of 15 from the field in the first half, but then scored eight crucial points to break open a fairly tight contest between the Warriors and the New York Knicks. Golden State outscored New York 28-14 in the fourth quarter to break a 64-64 tie after three quarter and move onto victory. Brandon Rush had 19 points, six rebounds, two steals and two blocks, Ish Smith put in 11 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals, and David Lee had 13 points and five boards.

What was probably most impressive for the Warriors was how good Golden State looked on defense. The Warriors decisively won the rebounding battle over New York 47-31. Golden State held Carmelo Anthony to 13 points on three of 13 shooting and Amare Stoudemire to 16 points on five of 14 shooting. It was a great all-around effort by the Warriors, who can cap off a solid week by beating the Philadelphia Sixers on New Year's Eve.

Warriors vs. Knicks, NBA Preview: Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudemire Look to Take Over Oracle Arena

After earning his first win as an NBA coach on Tuesday, Mark Jackson and his Golden State Warriors host their third straight game at Oracle Arena as Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudemire and the New York Knicks look to start the year with consecutive wins for the first time since 1999.

New York dropped the Boston Celtics on Christmas night 106-104, and roll into Oracle as the W's won't be at 100% with Stephen Curry more than likely sitting this game out with his sore right ankle. Nevertheless, the Knicks don't usually thrive in Oakland, losing eight straight games there before squeaking out a 125-119 win there last November despite the 40 points scored by Monta Ellis. Carmelo was still with Denver during that game.

With Curry out and the size that New York possesses, the W's will have a tough task tonight. They will have to get some great play out of their bigs against Amare and newly acquired shot blocker Tyson Chandler, with former Knick David Lee likely having a busy night (Lee dropped 28 and 10 on the Knicks last year), and should be a good test for guys like Kwame Brown and Andris Beidrins, as well as how their defense holds up against Gotham's dynamic duo.

Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT with coverage on NBA TV and KNBR 680 AM.

NBA Free Agents: Golden State Warriors Reportedly Sign Kyrylo Fesenko

The Golden State Warriors have been worried about their big men for quite some time. The Warriors have had pretty solid guard and swing man play, but it all unravels when teams start to attack the inside and no one is ready to meet them at the hilt. Golden State has capable players in Andris Biedrins and David Lee, but neither of them is your typical idea of a big man who can dominate the game inside on both ends of the floor.

So the Warriors are apparently stockpiling on bigs.

Source tells http://t.co/Myv8C3o8 that big man Kyrylo Fesenko has agreed to a one-year deal with Golden State.
Dec 27 via TwitterrificFavoriteRetweetReply

Fesenko's one-year deal with Golden State is for the rest of the Ws' cap space: approx $1.07 million, source says.
Dec 27 via TwitterrificFavoriteRetweetReply

Fesenko didn't have great numbers with the Jazz, but would join a crowded rotation that already features Biedrins, Lee, Kwame Brown and Ekpe Udoh, but for one year this could be a nice pickup for a team that hopes to return to the playoffs. That isn't a great front-line, but it's far from a bad one. Considering contenders like the Mavericks and the Heat were interested in picking Fesenko up, the Warriors might have landed a gem for a bargain.

Stephen Curry Injury: Golden State Warriors PG Considered Day-To-Day

Stephen Curry might or might not be out for tomorrow night's game against the New York Knicks. His agent said he was out, but the Golden State Warriors say otherwise.

. @StephenCurry30 did not practice today and is considered day-to-day after tweaking an ankle injury in last night's game
Dec 27 via Twitter for AndroidFavoriteRetweetReply

At this point, it wouldn't be surprising if Curry took some time off. The season is going to be a sprint and there are a lot of opponents coming up in a short period. The Warriors would be better off trying to get other guys behind Curry like Klay Thompson and Ishmael Smith some playing time to try and acclimate to the NBA lifestyle.

Golden State does have a fairly easy first week (all of their games are at home), so they might be tempted to play Curry given that he'll have ample rest time. I doubt Curry will want to jeopardize his season though, so you might see him rest. Stay tuned as to what happens here.

Stephen Curry Injury Update: Curry Will Sit Out Wednesday Against Knicks

Even though X-rays late Monday came back negative on Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry's surgically repaired left ankle, the young star will sit out Wednesday's home game against the New York Knocks, his agent, Lance Young, told USA Today's J. Michael Falgoust.

Curry landed on Kyle Korver's foot during the fourth quarter of the Warriors 99-91 win over the Chicago Bulls. Curry finished with 21 points but after injuring the ankle in the preseason that made him miss three practices, resting him is the best option in this shortened season.

But it hasn't helped Curry's frustration with the lingering problem.

"It was comforting for me that it wasn't one of those just planting and moving kind of injuries like I had," Curry told USA Today. "It's still frustrating that this keeps coming up. I had this all last year so for me it's just trying to figure out why it keeps doing that and try to get it stronger."

Warriors Vs. Bulls, NBA Scores: Warriors Use Well-Rounded Attack, Drop Bulls 99-91

The Golden State Warriors couldn't keep up in the fourth quater against the Los Angeles Clippers Sunday night, but instead had to keep the Chicago Bulls at bay late in the game Monday night at Oracle Arena, eventually earning their first win of the season by the score of 99-91.

With both squads playing the second game of a back-to-back, the Warriors got out of the gates hot, forcing multiple Chicago turnovers and working both ends of the floor hard to take a 57-41 halftime lead. The Bulls chipped away in the second half, working to within six points late in the fourth quarter, but the W's fought on and kept reigning MVP Derrick Rose and the rest of the Bulls far enough out of reach to seal Mark Jackson's first win as an NBA coach.

Steph Curry, Monta Ellis, David Lee and Dorell Wright, or 'the Bay's big four' as I like to call them, lead the way for Golden State tonight as dropped Curry's 21 points, 10 assists and 6 steals, while Monta Ellis scored 26 and seven dimes; great improvements from their showings Christmas night. David Lee played great as well, dropping 22 and seven boards while Dorell Wright added 13.

The W's bench was very impressive as well, with Brandon Rush and Kwame Brown both having key defensive plays (Brown had four steals), and Dominic McQuire hit some clutch free throws at the end of the game.

As for the Bulls, they struggled offensively early which would eventually kill them this evening. Derrick Rose continued his troubles at Oracle scoring 13 points on 4-17 shooting, while Luol Deng led the Bulls with 22 points. Carlos Boozer had only six points in 26 minutes.

It seemed like whenever the W's need a big shot they got it tonight, showing some of the tight defense Mark Jackson had been hoping for; creating havoc with their turnovers, scoring easy buckets, and keeping the energy up throughout the game.

Unfortunately Curry would leave the game late in the fourth after apparently re-injuring his already tender right ankle, which hopefully won't be a serious injury. Nevertheless, it may be time to give his some rest despite his great play tonight.

Now with their first win under their belts, Coach Jackson and Co. and can hopefully start stringing some together now.

Warriors Vs. Bulls, NBA Preview: W's Face Second Tough Test In As Many Nights

The Golden State Warriors hung tough withe the Los Angeles Clippers for the majority of Christmas night, but fell silent down the stretch, eventually losing Mark Jackson's first game as an NBA coach. Now the W's have to refocus themselves for a meeting with the ever so dangerous Chicago Bulls, who are fresh off their nail-biting win over the Los Angeles Lakers yesterday themselves.

Andris Biedrins and David Lee were taking care of business the majority of the night down low, but it was the backcourt that struggled against the Clip Show as a hobbled Stephen Curry finished with more turnovers (5) than points (4) while Monta Ellis went 6-19 from the field, something Golden State will have to improve this evening. Hopefully they can have similar output from bench guys like Brandon Rush and rookie Klay Thompson, each scoring 12 and seven respectfully.

Golden State began Christmas night rigid on defense but folded in the second half, allowing 105 points including 65 in the second half alone. Like the Clippers, the Bulls are a high powered offense, and will prove to be another early test for Jackson and his defense-first mentality.

These two teams split their meetings last season, with each winning a game on their home court. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm PT from Oracle Arena with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.

Warriors Vs. Clippers Final Score: Chris Paul Takes Over Late, Warriors Fall, 106-86, In Season Opener

The bottom just fell out.

It was a one-point game after Andris Biedrins hit a jump hook with 6:45 remaining in the game, but the Golden State Warriors would only manage five more points the rest of the way as they fell victim to the new-look Los Angeles Clippers, 105-86, in the season opener for both teams and the night cap of the NBA's Christmas Day lineup.

The Warriors once again showed that they could play with anybody as they traded runs back and forth with the Clippers. But tonight - as it was before new head coach Mark Jackson arrived - the Warriors couldn't get the stops necessary on the defensive end and it cost them.

Chris Paul showed why his acquisition now has the Clippers as the talk of the Western Conference as he knocked down three consecutive jumpers with under four minutes remaining to give the Clippers a double-digit lead it would never relinquish.

David Lee scored 21 points on 10-19 FGs and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead the Warriors but were let down by their usually dynamic backcourt of Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis. Ellis had eight assists but the two guards combined to shoot 8 for 31 from the field. It won't be the norm but it wasn't a good start to the Jackson era.

Chauncey Billups finished with 21 points, five rebounds and four assists, Paul had 20 points and nine assists and Blake Griffin put in 22 points and seven rebounds to lead the Clippers.

Warriors Vs. Clippers: Blake Griffin, Chris Paul Lead 34-Point Third Quarter

The Golden State Warriors lost their 43-41 halftime lead as the Los Angeles Clippers head into the fourth quarter with a 75-68 lead. The Warriors strong first half defense wilted under the Clippers offensive pressure as LA put up 34 points in the third quarter. Blake Griffin led the way as he put in nine points on a mix of dunks and second chance points.

The Warriors are getting a solid game from David Lee as he has scored 15 points and hauled in 11 rebounds through three quarters. The Warriors have seen Brandon Rush provide a bit of a surprise energy performance off the bench. He has seven points and three rebounds as he has been as busy as anybody. The Warriors will need that kind of energy play if they are going to climb back in the fourth quarter. The defensive energy has sagged a bit and could cost them the game.

Warriors Vs. Clippers: David Lee, Monta Ellis Lead Golden State To First Half Lead

The Golden State Warriors got their season-opener off to a strong start as they took a 43-41 lead over he Los Angeles Clippers into halftime. The Warriors showed some of the strong defense Mark Jackson has been preaching as they held the much-hyped Clippers offense to a 33% shooting percentage in the half. Chauncey Billups was 3-of-11, Chris Paul was 1-of-6 and Blake Griffin was 3-of-9 as the Warriors were able to contest just about every shot.

Monta Ellis scored 12 points in the first half and while he struggled with his outside shot, he showed his usual athleticism when driving into the lane. David Lee was the star of the first half as he scored 11 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. The Warriors as a team outrebounded the Clippers by ten as they have been playing extremely hard on the glass. They will need to keep winning the battle of the boards given what Blake Griffin can do if he starts getting too many second chance opportunities.

Warriors Vs. Clippers: Andris Biedrins Solid Early, Clippers Lead Late In First Quarter

The Golden State Warriors kicked off their 2011-12 NBA season as the are hosting the Los Angeles Clippers at Oracle Arena on Christmas Day. The Warriors got the game off to a fast start as they took a 14-8 lead and were getting the pace going in a manner they enjoyed. However, the Clippers closed the first quarter strong in taking a 24-20 lead into the second quarter.

The Warriors got a strong first quarter effort from Andris Biedrins who scored six points and pulled down four rebounds. He did most of his work early in the quarter as he was fairly quiet the final few minutes. David Lee matched him with six points as two-thirds of the Warriors front line was doing some solid work. Dorell Wright was a different matter. He grabbed a couple rebounds but it should surprise nobody that Ekpe Udoh split minutes with him in the first quarter.

The Warriors had their entire lineup available in spite of question marks about Stephen Curry's ankle. They started Curry, Monta Ellis, Dorell Wright, David Lee and Andris Biedrins. Udoh, Klay Thompson and Brandon Rush all got some solid minutes in the first quarter of Mark Jackson's coaching debut.

Chauncey Billups led the Clippers in scoring with 7 points. Blake Griffin added six points inside. We had our first lob for "Lob City" as DeAndre Jordan threw one down from above.

Stephen Curry Injury Update: Warriors Point Guard Likely To Play In Season Opener

Although Golden State Warriors starting point guard Stephen Curry missed practice as late as Thursday due to an ankle injury and was listed as questionable for Sunday night's Opening Day matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers, it looks as though he's intending on playing in the game after all.

According to Matt Steinmetz of CSN Bay Area, Curry participated in the pregame walk-through on Sunday, appearing with the starting unit and performing his normal pregame shooting drills, although he was wearing a brace on his ankle.

Curry injured the ankle during an exhibition game against the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night. If he is able to play in the game at near-full capacity, it would be a boost to the Warriors, who are going up against the suddenly-formidable and much-hyped Clippers in the opening game of the shortened season for both teams.
