Former Warrior Center Chris Hunter Back In Midwest

Stay connected for news and updates

One of the Golden State D-Leaguers Chris Hunter is back on the rader, returning to his old stomping grounds of the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, an NBA d-league team.

Hunter caught the injury bug towards the end of last season with tendinitis in his knee, which most Warriors fans will remember him limping like a mummy just so the Warriors could have 5 players on the floor in their final game against the Portland Trailblazers. But Hunter, a gentle big man who quietly did his work, is staying optimistic about his chances to return to the NBA:

"I feel confident I could compete against anybody," Hunter said. "I played against basically all the great big guys in the league and did some good things against them. I'm confident I can work hard and improve and do some of the similar things they do."

In limited minutes, Hunter was inconsistent but you could see he had the interior presence and the offensive tools to be in the league. I remembered being wowed by his offensive grace and ability to step out and shoot jumpers. He could step out at hit jumpers but for some reason couldn't hit a 1-foot shot to save his life. Lets hope Hunter gets picked up again, though he probably worries that it will be the Warriors given their injury situations.
