Emmanuel Burriss will not be making a return to the Giants after accepting an undisclosed minor league deal with the Cincinnati Reds earlier this week.
Burriss has spent the last five seasons up and down between the Giants and their minor league affiliates. The 27-year-old speedster elected free agency after being outrighted to Triple-A earlier this month when San Francisco wasn't too keen on the idea of going to arbitration with him for the first time.
Burriss, San Francisco's first-round pick back in 2000, hit .243 with 87 runs and 40 stolen bases in his 282 games played in a Giants' uniform. His last season in the bay was a relatively uninspiring though as he compiled a .213/.270/.221 line with 15 runs, seven RBI and five stolen bases in 136 at bats.
