Tim Lincecum provided hope to fans of the San Francisco Giants when he made only his third career relief appearance in Game Two of the NLDS on Sunday night .

Looking for a boost after falling behind 4-0 to the Cincinnati Reds in game two of the NLDS, San Francisco Giants Manager Bruce Bochy brought out Tim Lincecum in relief in the sixth inning.

Lincecum pitched two scoreless innings, retiring six of seven batters that he faced and allowed one hit while striking out two in the sixth and seventh innings. The relief appearance was only the third of Lincecum's career and second in post-season play.

Bochy told Andrew Baggarly of the CSNBayArea.Com:

"All those options are open and I was glad to see him throw like that," Bochy said. "He was really good, I thought – good with his command and he kept the ball down and had all his pitches working.

Lincecum entered the game to a standing ovation which was one of the few opportunities that fans were able to cheer during a 9-0 loss to the Reds in game two. The Giants managed just two hits in the game.
