World Series Game 3, Giants vs. Tigers score: San Francisco maintain 2-0 lead, 6 outs away from win

Stay connected for news and updates

The San Francisco Giants' two runs in the top of the 2nd inning have proved to be the difference so far, as the two teams have been held scoreless since as they enter the top of the 8th inning.

Right-handed starting pitcher Ryan Vogelsong tossed 5 2/3 innings of scoreless work and was able to get out of a few jams during his start, including getting AL MVP candidate Miguel Cabrera to pop out to shortstop with bases loaded and two outs.

Tim Lincecum came into relief for Vogelsong in the sixth and was able to record four outs without allowing a run, protecting the 2-0 lead.

While the Giants have been unable to tack on any more runs, the game is in the hands of both teams' bullpens and is up to Bruce Bochy's to record six outs without blowing the 2-0 lead, which would give them the 3-0 series lead.
