The St. Louis Cardinals took an early 6-0 lead over the Giants in Game One of the 2012 NLCS, but a four-run fourth inning has cut the lead to 6-4.
David Freese, who set the postseason RBI record last year, put the Cardinals on the board in the second inning with a two-run homer to left-center field. In the fourth, Pete Kozma doubled home a run down the line to make it 3-0. Jon Jay singled up the middle to plate Kozma, and then Carlos Beltran jacked a deep two-run homer to left to give St. Louis a 6-0 lead.
The Giants responded in a big way in the bottom half of the frame. With two outs and just one on, Hunter Pence singled to put runners on the corners. Brandon Belt blooped a ball to center field to cut the deficit to 6-1. With runners on the corners once again, Gregor Blanco tripled to clear the bases.
Brandon Crawford then doubled to bring home Blanco, making it 6-4. Aubrey Huff walked in a pinch-hit appearance to keep things going, but Angel Pagan grounded out to end the threat. We are now heading to the fifth inning.
