Jordan Payton Decommits From Cal, Announces For Washington

The California Golden Bears are seeing their much-heralded recruiting class crumble with top recruit by top recruit. First top safety Shaq Thompson changed his commitment from Cal and joined his main recruiter Tosh Lupoi on the way up to Washington. And now Jordan Payton is on his way to join him.

Payton has been floating around throughout his recruitment throughout the 2011-12 process. He originally was committed to the USC Trojans before opening things up and looking around. After a process that saw him looking at Notre Dame, Michigan, and UCLA, Payton committed to Cal. But the departure of his two main recruiters/coaches Tosh Lupoi and Eric Kiesau made him reconsider, and Payton eventually decommitted from the Bears and ended up joining them up in Washington as a Husky with his announcement on ESPNU this afternoon.

Cal is plummeting down the recruiting rankings, and it's hard to see things getting much better before Signing Day.
