California Football Recruiting: Jordan Payton, Kenneth Walker, Ishmael Adams Favoring Cal

The Cali-5 might be taking shape, and it could mean big things for the California Golden Bears. First, quarterback Zach Kline pledged to Jeff Tedford and Cal last fall. Second, Shaq Thompson committed to the Bears in early winter and reopened his recruitment a few weeks late, but still is considered a strong Cal lean. Third, wide receiver Bryce Treggs committed to Cal a few weeks ago.  And now, the two remaining targets are favoring the Bears as well. Justin Hopkins of 247Sports.com reports on these developments.

Ishmael Adams and Jordan Payton both play at Oaks Christian in Westlake Village, California. Payton plays wide receiver, Adams cornerback, so both are quite familiar with each other on the field as well as off of it. Payton decommitted from USC a month or so ago, and supposedly has had the Bears high on his radar ever since he made that move. Adams recently received a Cal offer, and he also might favor playing football in Strawberry Canyon.

Athlete Kenneth Walker from John F. Kennedy in Richmond is also supposedly high on California, and could have committed at The Opening, but decided to wait. These are three promising young athletes who could certainly bring the home-grown talent that Cal desperately needs.

Top defensive tackle Ellis McCarthy retains his interest in the Bears, and also has Cal in his must-visits along with Florida and USC.
