Berkeley, CA (Sports Network) – Harper Kamp scored a game-high 18 points, leading four starters in double figures, as the California Golden Bears cruised to an 85-57 win over the Oregon State Beavers in a Pac-10 Conference showdown at Haas Pavilion.
Jorge Gutierrez added 16 points and a game-high 11 assists for the Bears (11-9, 4-4 Pac-10) as they won their second straight outing. Mark Sanders- Frison chipped in 15 points and nine rebounds and Allen Crabbe 12 points and another seven boards for the hosts.
The Beavers (8-11, 3-5) were paced by Jared Cunningham who tallied 15 points as he shot 11-of-12 shots at the free-throw line. Devon Collier tacked on 14 points, Lathan Wallace 12 and Calvin Haynes 10 points off the bench in the team’s second straight setback.
California shot a strong 53.8 percent from the floor in the first half, compared to just 36.7 percent for the visitors, which allowed the Bears to take a 36-26 lead at the break.
In the second half OSU continued to struggle and made a mere eight field goals in the period, en route to the 28-point setback.
The Beavers finished the night shooting only 3-of-18 out on the perimeter and turned the ball over 17 times.
