Cal vs. Washington score: Bears tied 7-7 at halftime

Stay connected for news and updates

The California Golden Bears came out a bit sloppy against the Washington Huskies on Friday night, but a second quarter touchdown tied the game at 7-7. That score held through the first 30 minutes of play as the Bears' defense halted multiple UW drives late.

Bishop Sankey scored for UW early in the first quarter with a four-yard rush up the middle. Sankey has been the star for Washington so far, rushing for 124 yards on 18 carries. Quarterback Keith Price has not been as good, going 10-for-20 for 138 passing yards and an interception. The interception came in the closing seconds of the second quarter at the 10-yard line which took away at least three points from the Huskies.

Chris Harper tied the game for Cal with a 14-yard touchdown run with 2:46 left in the half. That has been Harper's lone carry of the game. Zach Maynard has been solid albeit unspectacular, completing 12 of his 20 pass attempts for 146 yards. Most importantly, he has not turned the ball over.

The second half is about to begin on ESPN2. A win for the Bears would keep their hopes of a bowl game alive.
