Cal vs. Washington preview: Not a lot of optimism from projections

Russ Isabella-US PRESSWIRE

The California Golden Bear fans don't think there is a shot that Jeff Tedford's team topples the Washington Huskies.

Disappointment has spread across the fan bases of the California Golden Bears and Washington Huskies following disappointing seasons thus far. As the two teams clash in Berkeley, Calif., on Friday, the 4-4 Huskies enter as underdogs by four points. But nothing is quite settling to Golden Bears fans as calls for the end of Jeff Tedford's tenure get louder, via California Golden Blogs blogger ManBearCal:

At the end of the day, Washington is a poor offensive team. And they're [******] on the road. But they're young, and there's plenty of talent on this side of the ball. We saw that last year. They're not all that good of a team overall. Really. But they're playing a whole hell of a lot better than we are right now, because we're bad. There's always the chance that we pull a UCLA-type performance out of our butts tomorrow night, but I doubt it. I've seen little this season to suggest we've got it in us at this point.

The Huskies are coming off what could be deemed a season-saving victory against the Oregon State Beavers. Steve Sarkisian's team is a bit erratic this season having beat the then-No. 7 Beavers and previously the No. 8 Stanford Cardinal. They also have losses to Oregon, USC and LSU. Two weeks ago got bludgeoned 52-17 by the Arizona Wildcats.

Meanwhile, Cal is on a two-game losing streak. They lost 49-27 this past week to the Utah Utes and their struggling offense that is is in the bottom 30 nationally in passing and rushing yards.

The Golden Bears are 3-6 on the year.
