While most predictions favor the UCLA Bruins beating the California Golden Bears, a few writers are going out on limbs saying Cal has a chance to pull the upset.
Jeff Tedford might be on the hot seat and the California Golden Bears might be hosting the No. 25 team in the nation, but it's arguable that Cal is the best 1-4 team in the nation.
ESPN Pac-12 blogger Ted Miller believes the Golden Bears will pull off the upset 31-28 based on nothing more than a hunch. Miller's colleague, Kevin Gemmell, sees the Bruins coming out of Memorial Stadium with a 35-24 win.
Picking Cal isn't all that wild of a choice. At CBS Sports two of the seven voters in their weekly picks see Cal pulling off the win in front of the home crowd. UCLA is only a 2.5 point favorite, after all.
Jon Wilner of the Mercury News wants to do everything in his power to believe the Golden Bears will have their breakout game in what might be a saving game for Tedford's coaching tenure in Berkeley, but it's not enough for him to make that risky prediction. He covers that by saying that, yes, this will be California's breakout game.
