San Francisco got an impressive performance from Colin Kaepernick on Monday night, and a quarterback controversy might be brewing.
49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh hasn't yet decided on who will start at quarterback for the 49ers in their Week 12 battle with the New Orleans Saints, saying he would usually go with the "hot hand," according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN. Harbaugh also added that the 49ers have two hot hands, so the situation remains unclear.
Colin Kaepernick came in to start for an injured Alex Smith on Monday night against the Bears, and lit up the Bears. He completed 16 of 23 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns, while posting a 133.1 passer rating.
Smith hasn't done much to lose his starting position, completing 70 percent of his passes for 1,731 yards, 13 touchdowns, and just five interceptions. He was knocked out the 49ers Week 10 game against the Rams with a concussion, and didn't get clearance from a neurologist to play against Chicago.
The Niners face the Saints at 1:25 p.m. PT on Sunday.
