49ers vs. Jets: Did they cover?

Stay connected for news and updates

Ed Mulholland-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The San Francisco 49ers covered the spread in their 34-0 thrashing of the New York Jets on Sunday.

The 49ers were favored only by a slight margin heading into their game against the New York Jets in Week 4. Perhaps it was an insult, because the 49ers pretty safely beat that spread as they absolutely obliterated the Jets 34-0. Heading over to SB Nation's hub for NFL odds or OddsShark will get you up to speed on how the lines looked.

The spread was holding through the first quarter, but a touchdown in the second quarter pushed the Niners over. The over/under was sitting around 41.5 points on Sunday, and the under was definitely the bet to make.

It can be a bit tough to make the over when the defense is holding its scoreless opponent to a mere 145 total yards -- good for only 2.9 yards per play. The 49ers tried to run up the score as much as possible, literally, as the team combined for a total of 245 yards rushing from nine different players. Frank Gore led the team with 62 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries.
