All throughout this season, I've made the San Francisco 49ers my pick. It's paid off for the most part, seeing as how they have a winning record, so of course, I do. I haven't hesitated to pick them against the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions or the New York Giants. Obviously, given how that game went last week, I should have went the other way.
But a dominating loss to a team that just seems to have their number won't make me change my tune, especially with an NFC West opponent on the schedule. On Thursday, the 49ers will take on the Seattle Seahawks, and it's surely going to be a game worth of prime time.
You see, when the NFC West gets together, all kinds of crazy stuff happens. The 49ers are very clearly a better team than Seattle, but it seems like everybody brings their 'A' game for these matchups, and it's easy to think that Earl Thomas and the Seattle defense can create problems for the 49ers and their offense which, while it looks much improved, was thoroughly embarrassed against the Giants.
Either way, my pick remains the same: 49ers. They'll go back to the running game and they'll be successful, and they won't be trying to pick on the man-to-man coverage experts Seattle boasts in their secondary. It's going to be a hard-fought game, but one that San Francisco will likely be in control of from start to finish.
Let's call it a 27-17 win for the defending NFC West champions.
