The San Francisco 49ers fell to the New York Giants on Sunday afternoon, losing 26-3.
The Giants' defense was key all afternoon, forcing San Francisco quarterback Alex Smith to throw three interceptions and holding the Niners' rushing attack in check. Niners running back Frank Gore had just 36 yards on eight carries.
The only score of the day for San Francisco came in the first quarter when David Akers hit a 42-yard field goal.
After that it was all Giants, who added 10 points in the second quarter and 13 in the third to put the contest out of reach.
Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw had a great game, gaining 116 yards on 27 carries and a touchdown. The same could not be said for 49ers quarterback Alex Smith, who did throw for 200 yards but threw three interceptions without a touchdown.
Did they cover?
San Francisco was favored in this contest so they did not cover the spread.
The 49ers lost LT Joe Staley for the game when he suffered a concussion. Giants LB Jacquian Williams left the game with the calf injury. The time that these injuries will keep the players out is unknown.
