Brandon Jacobs injury: 49ers RB says he's healthy, is growing frustrated

Ed Szczepanski-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

49ers running back Brandon Jacobs is getting a bit irked that he's hasn't been getting any playing time, claiming that he's been healthy enough to play for the last two weeks.

As the San Francisco 49ers prepare for their NFC Championship rematch with the New York Giants, running back Brandon Jacobs is hoping to see some action against his former team, and is getting aggravated with his lack of playing time.

According to CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco, Jacobs is growing frustrated as he claims his knee was healthy enough to play the last two games against the Jets and Bills, but didn't suit up. Jacobs confirmed his frustration to USA Today, but made sure to keep his feelings in check.

"Oh, very," he said. "Because I don't know anything. I don't know what's what. But I'm hanging in there, I'm working every day, doing what I have to do. Let's say I'm just working and doing what I have to do and that's that. I've learned over the years when you open your mouth and say certain things, it hurts you, so I'm just going to shut up and keep working."

Head coach Jim Harbaugh noted that Jacobs' knee was "still not quite there" from the injury suffered in the preseason back on Aug. 18. He also mentioned that he will reevaluate based on how Jacobs does this week in practice.

The 49ers signed Jacobs to a one-year, $1.575 million contract this offseason after being let go by New York.
