49ers Vs. Jets: 'What a day to be a 49ers fan'

Ed Mulholland-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The San Francisco 49ers absolutely dismantled the New York Jets in a 34-0 romp. The 49ers opened up the playbook, allowing Colin Kaepernick to show his potential, and scored touchdowns on defense and special teams.

The San Francisco 49ers put up 34 points against the New York Jets, although it was unnecessary, as they shut out their opponent in an easy romp to move to 3-1 on the year.

Not much went wrong for the Niners, and not much went right for the Jets, as San Francisco coasted to a five-score win. David Fucillo at Niners Nation obviously had lots of good things to say about the win:

"The 49ers struggled to get points on the board early, but even with a 10-0 halftime lead, this game never really seemed in doubt. The New York Jets could not get a thing going and it showed. Mark Sanchez struggled, the run game struggled, the defense struggled. Aside from a pair of missed field goals, the 49ers dominated in all three phases of the game."

Fucillo's only lament was that the team should have scored over 40, with the offense only accounting for 20 points with the defense pitching in a fumble return for touchdown and special teams scoring on a punt block. The most exciting thing for 49ers fans in the romp might have been the play of backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who took snaps for Alex Smith early and impressed out of a variety of interesting designed sets for the speedy second-year player out of Nevada.

Kaepernick had been under the radar through the first three weeks. The 49ers officially put teams on notice today as Kaepernick had five rushes for 50 yards and almost hooked up on a big touchdown pass to Randy Moss.

The 49ers head back from the east coast to play a team the Jets dismantled in Week 1, the Buffalo Bills.
