The San Francisco 49ers pulled a bit of an upset on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Packers in Green Bay 30-22. Alex Smith and Frank Gore had good games, but it was the defense that set the tone early and often. The Packers scored just one touchdown in the first three quarters, and one of their two scores in the fourth quarter came on a special teams play.
For a team that so many have predicted to win the NFC West, it was an impressive start.

The 49ers will now begin preparations for the Detroit Lions, who will make their way to Candlestick Park in Week 2.
