BMW Championship 2012: Tiger Woods Trails Resurgent Vijay Singh By One Stroke

Tiger Woods turned in a valiant five-under 65 Friday but ultimately Vijay Singh's six-under 66 was just enough better to give him sole possession of the lead after the second round of the BMW Championship.

Play began early with heavy rain forecast later in the day, but that didn't affect Singh in the slightest. The 2008 FedEx Cup champion turned in seven birdies on the day to put him at -13 over the whole tournament. Singh's only miscue would come on the par-four fourth but he'd bounce back from that bogey and birdie his last hole to secure a one-shot lead heading into Saturday.

Woods currently sits in a three-way tie with Rory McIlroy and fellow American Ryan Moore at -12. For the most part, Woods seemed locked in, sinking five birdies while hitting par the rest of the way. McIlroy, who held a share of the overnight lead, was erratic throughout with four bogeys, six birdies and one eagle.
