NFL Power Rankings: ESPN Ranks Raiders 26th

The Oakland Raiders remained at a steady 26th place in ESPN's Week 1 NFL Power Rankings. ESPN puts the final regular season record for Oakland at 8-8, and football scribe Ashley Fox believes that the number of questions surrounding the team make it hard to say what will come of the team.

So much is new in Oakland. New coach. New general manager. New results? (Fox)

It's the first year for head coach Dennis Allen, and general manager Reggie McKenzie takes over the long reign of Al Davis at general manager.

The level of talent is about the only thing we know about Oakland. But that comes with running back Darren McFadden fighting his own battle against a history of injury problems, and quarterback Carson Palmer looking to regain his old form of a few years ago.

NFL Week 1 Power Rankings: 49ers Land At No. 4

ESPN has released its NFL Power Rankings for Week 1, and the San Francisco 49ers have landed the No. 4 spot.

The Niners, who open the season with a tough matchup against NFC powerhouse Green Bay Packers (ranked No. 1 in ESPN's poll), moved up one spot from last week's preseason edition of the Power Rankings. They'll open the season with three of their first four games on the road before returning to the West Coast to play five of six at home, beginning in early October with a Week 5 matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

The rest of the NFC West didn't fare so well in the Week 1 poll. The Seattle Seahawks claimed the No. 20 spot, the Arizona Cardinals sit at No. 23 and the St. Louis Rams are ranked 28th.

Sunday's game against the Packers will begin at 1:25 p.m. PDT and be televised on Fox.

NFL Power Rankings: Raiders Fall 2 Spots Heading Into Season

The Oakland Raiders enter the regular season ranked No. 26 in Joel Thorman of SB Nation's NFL Power Rankings, two spots down from their No. 24 ranking following the NFL Draft.

Thorman just couldn't let the last five weeks not alter his feelings about the Raiders heading into the season.

It's just preseason, yes, but Oakland struggled. A healthy Darren McFadden keeps them relevant but staying healthy is not a strength of his.

The Raiders are in a division with a lot of question marks, as the San Diego Chargers (ranked No. 22) and the Kansas City Chiefs (No. 23) chase the Peyton Manning-led Denver Broncos (ranked No. 11). But even as Manning showed signs of being his former self, the real games will determine just how good the Broncos are. If he falters, the division is up for the taking.

But with the way the Raiders looked in the preseason, they may not be in a position to grab it.

NFL Power Rankings: 49ers Fall To 8th Ahead of Packers Opener

The San Francisco 49ers are No. 8 in the latest NFL Power Rankings from SB Nation's Joel Thorman. The 49ers took a dip from their No. 4 ranking immediately following the draft back in April.

Thorman still thinks that the 49ers will be good, but may not see the same success as 2011:

8. San Francisco 49ers (LW: 4): Too many things went well for the 49ers last year. This is a very good team but it will come back to Earth this year.

Alex Smith and 49ers finished last season as one of the top surpises in the NFL, going 13-3 and advancing to the NFC Championship game.

The Green Bay Packers, San Francisco's Week 1 opponent, check in at the top in the rankings.

The rest of the NFC West appears to be falling behind the 49ers. The Seahawks find themselves at No. 24, while the Rams and Cardinals fall at Nos. 28 and 31 respectively.
