Stephen Curry, Agent Feel Good About Extension Possibilities

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry and his agent are working hard to get a contract extension before training camp ends. Curry will be a restricted free agent in 2013, meaning other teams can attempt to sign him although the Warriors will have a chance to match all offers. Curry seems to be looking to ensure his future in Golden State regardless, and is trying to ensure that a deal gets made.

Matt Steinmetz has more on the situation at CSN Bay Area:

"I’m very optimistic about getting a deal done," said Lance Young, Curry’s representative. "I think we can get something done by the 31st (Oct. 31, the deadline for Curry to sign a deal)."

The big concern with Curry is the ankle problems that have plagued him throughout his career. This could probably make Golden State a little concerned as to how much money they should end up committing -- and how many years they should count on -- until they're certain of his health. Curry recognized as much during camp.

"They’ve had some talks," said Curry, who was participating in a father/son basketball camp at St. Ignatius High School. "But obviously they (Warriors) want to protect themselves and want to see during training camp. And I have no problem with that."

The Warriors are expected to extend Curry, though. It's just a question of how much and for how long.
