San Jose Sharks' Douglas Murray To Play In Sweden

San Jose Sharks defenseman Douglas Murray has agreed to join Swedish hockey team Djurgardens IF of the HockeyAllsvenskan, according to Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area.

With the Swedish Elite League still denying access to locked-out NHL players, Murray choose Djurgardens IF in the Swedish second-tier hockey league as a native of Sweden. Murray played for Djugarden's junior team during their 1996-1997 season before heading over to the United States and spending four years at Cornell.

Murray is the fifth Shark to commit to playing abroad, joining center Joe Thornton, defenseman Jason Demers, center Logan Couture and center Michal Handzus.

With no end in sight for the lockout, Djurgardens should have quite the formidable lineup this year with St. Louis Blues center Patrik Berglund and Los Angeles Kings center Anze Kopitar already on board.
