Tour Championship 2012: Brandt Snedeker Has Day To Remember With Tour Championship, FedEx Cup Wins

Brandt Snedeker has had a memorable 2012 but Sunday had to be the high point with the eight-year veteran taking home Tour Championship and FedEx Cup honors with a two-under final round.

Snedeker was the only player from the last five groups who registered a score under part. His three birdies on the back nine helped secure an overall score of 10-under along with the $10 million FedEx Cup pot.

Justin Rose (-7), Luke Donald (-6) and Ryan Moore (-6) rounded out the top four of the leaderboard. Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy both had legitimate shots at the FedEx Cup but neither came close to winning this tournament.

Woods had an up-and-down Sunday with four bogeys and a double bogey for a score of two-over. McIlroy was consistently awful throughout his final round, turning in a score four-over.

Sacramento-native Nick Watney finished in 28th place after racking up six bogeys in his final round.

The Tour Championship 2012: Justin Rose And Brandt Snedeker Take Lead In Round 3

Brandt Snedeker and Justin Rose have taken the lead following the third round of the 2012 Tour Championship. Both men are 8-under, with Snedeker shooting a 64, the day's best round.

Ryan Moore sits in third, shooting 5-under for the round for 6-under in total. Jim Furyk opened the day in the lead and stayed there much of the day. After going 1-under through 16, but hole No. 17 would be his undoing. A triple bogey sent him to a tie for fourth and 5-under with Rory McIlroy and Bubba Watson.

Tiger Woods improved on his showing from Friday. After opening the day tied for 12th place, the Stanford grad shot 3-under and ended the day tied for seventh, 4-under overall. Nick Watney, currently third in the FedEx Cup standings, isn't doing much to help his chances of a win. The Sacramento native was even for the day, leaving him 9-over and second from the bottom of the leaderboard.

Tour Championship 2012: Jim Furyk Leads, Tiger Woods Climbs Back Into Top 10

The third round of the 2012 Tour Championship is underway, and in the early going Jim Furyk has been able to hold on to his position at the top of the leaderboard. He's at even par through five, leaving him 7-under overall and in sole possession of the lead. Bubba Watson and Justin Rose are both through five tied for second, each 6-under overall.

After struggling in Round 2, Tiger Woods has looked better on the front nine. The former Stanford standout is 1-under through 10, having picked up birdies on hole Nos. 4 and 9, offset with a bogey on No. 7. That's enough to climb back into the top 10, tied for eighth at 2-under. Also tied for eighth is Rory McIlroy, who is 1-over through eight. Nick Watson, a native of Sacramento, is only 1-over through 17, but thanks to an ugly first two rounds he remains near the bottom of the standings.

There's plenty of golf yet to come, so this is still anyone's round and anyone's tournament.

The Tour Championship 2012: Tiger Woods Struggles, Falls Into Tie For 11th

The second round of the 2012 Tour Championship is complete, and Tiger Woods has fallen off his strong position from the first round. Woods was in a tie for the lead with Justin Rose going into Friday's action, but he never got going on Friday.

Woods started the day by bogeying the first hole; he recovered with birdies on the third and seventh holes, but gave that back with a double on the eighth. Woods moved back to even par on the front nine with a birdie on the next hole, but bogeys on 11, 12, 16, and 17 dwarfed his lone birdie on the back nine as he finished at three-over. Woods finished with a round of three-over 73.

Woods was in a strong spot to contend for the FedEx Cup crown (he currently sits 2nd in the overall standings), but now he's fallen behind Rory McIlroy in the standings, which would doom his chances this weekend.

The Bay Area's other golfer doesn't appear to be in serious contention. Nick Watney (who's also in the top three in the FedEx Cup standings) is still in dead last, with a second round of 74 to finish the first two rounds at nine-over.

The Tour Championship 2012: Tiger Woods, Justin Rose Lead After First Round

Tiger Woods began the final event of the FedEx Cup Championship like he wanted to unseat points leader Rory McIlroy, and after Thursday's first round of play at THE TOUR Championship, Woods finds himself tied with England's Justin Rose at 4-under par.

Hitting a 52-foot birdie put on the 18th hole, Rose tied Woods in dramatic fashion to close out the first day at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. Rose played well on the back nine, securing three birdies.

Woods, who is second in the FedEx Cup points standings, opened THE TOUR with first place on his mind. He has a good jump on McIlroy, who struggled in the 30-man field by shooting a 1-under.

Even worse off is Sacramento-born Nick Watney, who is in last place at 5-over par.
