Ron Bartell Injury: Raiders CB Has Broken Shoulder Blade

Stay connected for news and updates

Just one quarter into his regular season debut as a member of the Oakland Raiders, Ron Bartell broke his left shoulder blade on Monday night against the San Diego Chargers and will be out of the lineup for a while, according to ESPN's Bill Williamson.

However, considering the injury is one that will not require surgery, despite how painful a broken shoulder blade may sound, the Raiders are hopeful for a return in as early as four weeks. With a Week 5 bye, a four-week recovery would set Bartell up for a return in Week 6 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Cornerback Pat Lee filled in for Bartell following the injury on Monday night and will presumably be the starter in Bartell's place in the immediate future. After a seven-year career with the Rams, Bartell joined the Raiders during the 2012 offseason on a one-year deal worth $3 million.
