Denarius Moore Injury: Raiders Hopeful Receiver Can Play Week 2

Stay connected for news and updates

Oakland Raiders coach Dennis Allen said on Tuesday that he's hopeful receiver Denarius Moore will be ready to play against the Miami Dolphins in Week 2, according to reporter Steve Corkran. Moore sat out Monday night's 22-14 loss to the San Diego Chargers to help his recovery from a hamstring strain, but the second-year wideout has been practicing with the team.

The news of Moore's return is good news for a Raiders team that could use a deep threat. The longest pass completed on Monday was a 26-yard reception by tight end Brandon Myers.

And with the injury situation in Oakland's receiving group, any healthy bodies will be well received. Against San Diego, Oakland went with heavy doses of rookie Rod Streater and veteran Derek Hagan, who only signed on Thursday.

Further hurting the depth chart was Jacoby Ford undergoing surgery on his left foot, something Allen also announced on Tuesday. Ford will be out for a "significant" amount of time, Allen said.
