Hungary's Eva Risztov was in top form on Thursday at the 2012 Olympic Games in London taking home the gold medal in the women's 10K open water swim, holding off Santa Clara native Haley Anderson for the victory at London's Hyde Park.
Risztov and Anderson found themselves in a sprint to the finish line in the race, though Risztov was in front most of the way of the 10-kilometer race. She led a pack of swimmers that broke away from the rest of the field late, including Anderson. But when the smoke cleared it was Risztov on top.
The winning time was 1 hour, 57 minutes, 38.2 seconds. Martina Grimaldi of Italy took home the bronze medal. World champion Keri-Anne Payne was fourth, just missing the podium.
