It's been a decade of dominance for Kerri Walsh-Jennings on the sand, as she and Misty May-Treanor have partnered as one of the greatest sports duos in American history. Walsh-Jennings and May-Treanor won gold in Athens without dropping a set, and replicated that feat in Beijing to nab their second gold medals.
Their path to London gold wasn't quite as easy, but they definitely made the most of their opportunities. They won Pool C by beating Australia 2-0, Czech Republic 2-0, and then Austria 2-1 (the only set they've ever dropped in their three years of Olympic gold medal running). In the playoffs, they beat Netherlands 2-0 in the Round of 16, Italy 2-0 in the quarterfinals, China 2-0 in the semifinals.
And in the finals, they took Olympic gold once again, besting Jennifer Kessy and April Ross in the final in straight sets 21-16, 21-16. With May-Treanor retiring after these games, it caps off an incredible partnership and one of the greatest combinations in Olympic history.
