The United States won yet another gold medal in swimming on Saturday, setting a world record in the women's 4x100m IM. Team USA has been dominant in the pool thus far in London, and they turned to their top swimmers for today's event.
Missy Franklin started for the U.S. and got her team out to an early lead over Australia. Rebecca Soni raced second and held onto the lead. Dana Vollmer, an alum of the University of California-Berkley, really put some distance between Team USA and the rest of the field. Allison Schmitt served as the anchor and swam very well in the freestyle portion, touching the wall to set a new world record of 3:52.05.
Australia took home the silver medal after placing second in 3:54.02. Japan won bronze in 3:54. 24.
