2012 U.S. Open Results: Victoria Azarenka And Juan Martin Del Potro Win In Routine Fashion

The 2012 U.S. Open had two primetime matchups that went by pretty quickly. Andy Murray breezed by in straight sets over Croatia's Ivan Dodig, 6-2, 6-1, 6-3. Murray managed to win six of the last seven points in the first set. Murray then cruised from there thanks to dominance of his break points, winning six of nine overall and knocking down 10 aces.

Maria Sharapova was similarly dominant in her victory over Lourdes Dominguez Lino of Spain. Sharapova had 30 winners to Lino's zero, and her ability to hold her serve and attack Lino's made it pretty easy for her to win, 6-0, 6-1, in just under an hour of play.

In other action, top-seeded Victoria Azarenka made quick work of Kirsten Flipkens with a 6-2, 6-2 victory. John Isner struggled through two tiebreaks, but won both to advance. Juan Martin Del Potro faced a bit more resistance, but the seventh-seeded Argentinian managed to beat Florent Serra in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6, 6-4.
