The San Francisco Giants made a pair of roster moves on Wednesday, placing right-handed reliever Clay Hensley on the disabled list with a groin strain while left-handed reliever Jeremy Affeldt makes his return from paternity leave, according to CSN Bay Area.
Skipper Bruce Bochy noted that Hensley had been trying to fight through the groin issue for the past few weeks, but had affected his performance so badly that it finally warranted a DL stint. Hensley had given up six hits and six earned runs over the course of his last three appearances, a total of 1.1 innings pitched.
Though they'll be short a righty in the bullpen, the Giants got back a lefty in Affeldt just in time for Wednesday night's game against the Houston Astros. Affledt has a 2.92 ERA in 42 games for San Francisco this year. He had only been on paternity leave since Tuesday.
