2012 U.S. Open Scores: Victoria Azarenka Advances In Straight Sets

Women's world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka made easy work of Kirsten Flipkens on Wednesday at the U.S. Open in Flushing, New York, finishing her off in two sets by the score of 6-2, 6-2.

The 23-year-old native of Belarus played for just 27 minutes to finish the first set, using a double break to go up 5-2 before closing out Flipkins. She did the same in the second set, using another double break to move to 5-2 and close out the match.

Azarenka will now play No. 28 Jie Zheng of China on Friday, looking to make it past the third round of the tournament for the first time since 2007.

In other action, No. 19 Nadia Petrova advanced in straight sets over Romania's Simona Halep. American Mallory Burdette also advanced, beating Lucie Hradecka 6-2, 6-4.
