The Barclays 2012: Nick Watney Takes Lead From Sergio Garcia After 8

Stay connected for news and updates

Nick Watney has overtaken Sergio Garcia for sole possession of the Barclays lead after eight holes.

Watney used a two-shot swing at the par-3 eighth hole to leap past Garcia by one stroke. Watney currently sits at the top at 10-under overall.

It looks to be a two horse race between the two unless either of them trips up to let someone else in. Dustin Johnson went 4-under on the day to end the tournament in third at 7-under overall but he currently sits on the 16th hole. Brandt Snedeker has a chance, but is only 1-under on the day and is three strokes behind Watney and sitting at the ninth hole.

Tiger Woods struggled today and played himself out of contention. He is on the 14th hole and currently sits 4-over on the day, good for par on the entire course. Phil Mickelson also had a rough go and is 3-over on the day after 10 holes.
