Tiger Woods is healthy and considering his history, he'll be in the hunt at The Barclays.
Tiger Woods' injuries haven't been the talk. While his struggles at major PGA tour events have been, he's still one of the best golfers in the world coming into Thursday's tee-off of The Barclays in Farmingdale, New York.
Want proof? Woods is the top money-maker in the 2012 PGA season, and he leads the point totals for the FedEx Cup. Though Rory McElroy stands in front of Woods in the world golf rankings, Woods still has minor victories this year that, while relatively not up to his own standards, make him dangerous in The Barclays field of players.
McElroy, fittingly, will be paired with Woods.
Bob Harig of ESPN finds that the threat of Woods comes, in some respects, simply because of his health.
"Last year at this time, he did his interviews with you guys on the Friday of the PGA Championship, and went home; I'm sure he was frustrated," Woods' swing coach, Sean Foley told Harig. "He had just come off of sitting on the couch for three months. So yes, when you consider that, he's done very well."
And the move of The Barclays to Farmingdale's Bethpage State Park's Black Course is only more good news for Woods, who is chasing his third FedEx title.
Woods won at Bethpage in 2002, when the U.S Open was held there. He knows the course like the back of his hand, according to ESPN's golf experts, and considering it has some holes that are upwards of 450 yards, Woods' power will put him in a good place to challenge.
