SB Nation's fantasy sports hub released its Tight End rankings on Wednesday. Expert Ray Guilfoyle ranked Vernon Davis as his sixth best tight end for fantasy football behind No. 1 Jimmy Graham, No. 2 Rob Gronkowski, No. 3 Antonio Gates, No. 4 Jermichael Finley and No. 5 Jason Witten.
Davis enters his seventh NFL season with the 49ers and has become a durable and dependable option for the team. Fantasy owners will not have to worry about Davis missing any games, he has started 64 straight games for San Francisco dating back to 2008.
Last year, he only caught six touchdowns — his lowest total since 2008 — but he caught fire towards the end of the season, collecting 20 catches and 576 yards with five touchdowns in his team's final five games including the playoffs. Davis' late season success could be attributed to his raised comfort within head coach Jim Harbaugh's offensive system. If he can carry the momentum from the end of last season into 2012, he may be better than his No. 6 ranking indicates.
