San Francisco 49ers Waive Injured Tight End Nate Byham

Stay connected for news and updates

The San Francisco 49ers have waived tight end Nate Byham, according to a report from training camp. The news comes as a bit of a surprise; Byham really impressed after being drafted in the sixth round of the 2010 draft, but he suffered a knee injury and missed the entire season.

By the time he returned a new coaching staff had taken over, burying him a bit on the depth chart. The two sides have now parted ways.

Despite his history with injury, many around the 49ers believed Byham could make the team as the third tight end. That is no longer the case, and now he'll continue his football career outside of San Francisco.
