Alex Smith may have finally brought his 49ers to the playoffs last year, but chances are if your fantasy team had Alex Smith at the helm you probably weren't in your league's championship.
Neither the Oakland Raiders or the San Francisco 49ers are well represented in quarterback rankings.
The 49ers have been a running team for a while now and there is nothing in works to change that formula. So despite adding a few choice hands in the receiving corps, Smith isn't likely to find his way as a starter on most teams. Despite having a career year in 2011, Smith is a good reminder that solid real life players don't always translate to gaudy fantasy stats.
It's great that the team added some receiving weapons but we all know this offense will stay mostly grounded.
Meanwhile, the Carson Palmer only is getting a tad bit more love from the fantasy community, coming in at 20th overall. Although the Raiders have some very talented wide receivers, Palmer still struggled last year as he threw more interceptions than he did touchdowns.
