The White Sox jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning after an RBI groundout and an RBI double from Tyler Flowers.
The third inning was all A's, as they scored five runs to take the lead. Chris Carter hit an RBI single, Derek Norris hit an RBI double and Adam Rosales hit an RBI single to make it 5-2 A's. Josh Reddick added an RBI single in the top of the fourth to make it 6-2.
The White Sox battled back after that, as Flowers picked up another RBI in the fourth and Kevin Youkilis homered in the fifth to bring Chicago to within a run. Flowers struck again in the sixth, belting a homer to left-center to tie things up, 6-6. In the bottom of the seventh, the White Sox took a 7-6 lead with an RBI hit from A.J. Pierzynski.
Oakland proved to be just as difficult to put away, as Jonny Gomes smacked a home run to tie the game in the top of the eighth. Brandon Inge added an RBI single to put the A's back on top. In the ninth, Gomes was back at it, knocking in a huge insurance run with a single.
Oakland will go for the series win on Sunday.
