Friday and Saturday were huge for the United States at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They benefited from massive wins in women's basketball, track and field, women's soccer and women's water polo, among other events, to take their first significant medal count lead of the Summer Games. They jumped out to such a big lead, in fact, that they have ensured they will finish with the most total medals of any country. They also hold the gold medal lead heading into the final day of competition on Sunday.
