The San Francisco 49ers received a scare on Friday night as linebacker Aldon Smith exited the game with an injury. He hobbled off the field and was carted into the locker room, but after an evaluation he has been diagnosed with a bruised hip. As expected, Smith will not return to tonight's preseason game with the Vikings.

The injury is not believed to be serious, although it'll take some time for Smith to recover. The diagnosis is not nearly as bad as it could have been, especially when some were wondering if he could have fractured a bone or dislocated something.
Do not look for the 49ers to rush Smith back onto the playing field. With nearly four weeks remaining before the start of the regular season, it would be silly to have their star linebacker practicing while not 100%.
