It was an all-Chinese final in table tennis at the 2012 London Olympic games as Li Xiaoxia upset No. 1 seed Ding Ning to win the women's table tennis tournament, taking out her fellow countrywoman by the tune of four games to one Wednesday.
Li, the No. 2 seed, lost only the third game of the match en route to an 11-8, 14-12, 8-11, 11-6, 11-4 victory. The match took a total of 51 minutes. Xiaoxia takes home the gold medal, while Ning will have to settle for the silver.
The Chinese table tennis team arrived here almost destined to win multiple medals. China has captured all but four of the 24 previous Olympic gold medals in table tennis since it debuted at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul.
China remains the frontrunner in the medal count. You can check out SI's complete medal tracker here.
