Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest: Start Time, TV Schedule, Online Stream And More

There are a few memorable things that happen on July 4 each year. Not only do we get to celebrate our great country with great food, drinks and fireworks, but we also get to see professionally trained eaters try and stuff as many hot dogs down their throats as possible.

On historic Coney Island this afternoon, a field led by San Jose native Joey Chestnut will look to make food history in front of thousands of onlookers. Chestnut ate 62 hot dogs (62!) in 10 minutes last year.

The competition is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. PDT. That's noon for those planning on heading over to Coney Island to watch the madness in-person.

In a very confusing decision from the World Wide Leader, ESPN will be airing the 2012 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest on tape delay at 12 p.m. PDT. If you're hoping to watch it live, you can find it streamed live through ESPN3.com at 9 a.m.

We here at SB Nation Bay Area will keep you updated on the event throughout the day. Be sure to follow our StoryStream for results and much more from Coney Island.
