The 2012 Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest is set for July 4. Bay Area native Joey Chestnut is the favorite, once again, to take home his fifth-straight Mustard Belt.

The Bay Area is home to some of the best athletes in the entire world, and has been throughout its history. You'll find legends of any sport born or residing here, and that really does mean any sport. So who belongs alongside the Jerry Rices and the Joe Montanas? Why, Joey Chestnut, of course.

Chestnut is a competitive eater, with five Mustard Belts to his name. He currently resides in San Jose and was born in Vallejo, CA. In 2011, Chestnut picked up his fifth-straight Mustard Belt with a victory in the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Championships. His long-time rival, Takeru Kobayashi, no longer takes part in the Nathan's Championship after a contract dispute and, of course, an arrest.

But there's still plenty to watch for this year. The whole thing is set to get started on Wednesday, and Chestnut will be looking for his sixth-consecutive title. Last year, he did face some stiff competition in Pat "Deep Dish" Bertoletti, who finished with 55 hot dogs consumed. Chestnut had won with 62 of them.

It's all set to go down at 9:00 a.m. pacific time. You'll be able to watch it on ESPN3. We'll have full results for the competition as "Jaws" looks to make competitive history eating on Wednesday, so stick with this story stream.
