Ariel Hsing and Lily Zhang are the two representatives for the United States women's table tennis team, with both hailing from the South Bay.

Table tennis might not be the sport in highest demand at the Summer Olympic games, but the Bay Area will be well-represented in the sport. The representatives for the women at the London 2012 Olympics are teenagers who still have a long road to go before reaching their peak, but they figure to be contenders in the years to come.

  • Ariel Hsing is 16 years old and hails from San Jose. Despite her young age, she has already won three straight women's national championships.
  • Lily Zhang is 15 years old and resides in Palo Alto. She's Hsing's closest American rival and lives barely a few miles away.

Reid Forgrave of Fox Sports has a pretty nice profile on the two up-and-coming stars for the United States and their great promise going forward to help lift the profile of the sport in the American conscience.

Both Hsing and Zhang figure to be fixtures on the world table tennis tour as they grow and develop as players.
