It was a cool and cloudy day for some golf in the Bay Area on Monday as hundreds of players turned out for US Open Sectional Qualifying at TPC Harding Park and Lake Merced Country Club for a 36-hole tournament to get into this year's open at the Olympic Club. And after all the dest was settled a couple of PGA Tour veterans as well as a pair of amateurs made the grade as seven competiotors have made the field for the 112th US Open.
Local James Hahn shot the best score of the day, firing a 8-under 136, followed by Southern California amateur Beau Hossler, who tied with the PGA Tour's Alex Cejka and Micheal Allen, as well as Fallon, NV native Scott Smith. PGA Tour player Matt Bettencourt also played well enough to get in, as did amateur Alberto Sanchez.
