2012 U.S. Open: Tickets For Annual Classic Sold Out For 26th Consecutive Year

The U.S. Open is always a fantastic event to attend and the recent emergence of Tiger Woods, a former standout with the Stanford Cardinal, tickets have been selling like crazy this past week. The Open has sold out for the last quarter-century and tournament officials announced on Tuesday that all tickets had been sold out as of Tuesday afternoon.

Quite the achievement for those living in the Bay Area and golf fans everywhere.

Here's the latest from Ron Kroichick of the San Francisco Chronicle on ticket sales:

Sellout streak: USGA officials announced the tournament is a complete sellout. Some tickets had remained for Thursday's opening round, but those tickets are gone. It's the 26th consecutive year the Open has sold out.

Tickets were capped at 33,500 for each day.

The headliners for the event will be Woods and Phil Mickelson, who will be paired up on Thursday. Another big story to watch for will be Rory McIlroy trying to regain his dominance on the course.

The folks over at the 2012 U.S. Open will keep you updated on the latest news all week.
