After weeks of anticipation, the biggest IndyCar race of them all will take place on Sunday. The 2012 running of the Indianapolis 500 will commence at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Sausalito native J.R. Hildebrand will be trying to take home the most prized checkered flag of the year.

Hildebrand is slotted in at No. 18 in the starting grid and will be going for his first-ever win in the event as he pilots the No. 2 car for Panther Racing, running a Chevrolet engine. Helio Castroneves, who is No. 6 in the lineup, will be going for his fourth win in the Indy 500.

The 2012 Indy 500 is set to begin shortly after 9:00 a.m. PT on ABC. Cars will roll off the grid for pace laps at 9:04 a.m., followed by the green flag at 9:12 a.m.
