On Saturday, the main card of the UFC 146 pay-per-view consisted entirely of heavyweight fights. True to form, the first three fights have been quick and brutal, although none more so than the third fight of the main card, which pitted Roy Nelson against Dave Herman.
"Big Country" Roy Nelson looked resplendent in a glorious beard and braided rat-tail and after a brief feeling-out process, landed a huge right hand to the side of Herman's ear that dropped the fighter to his knees, glassy-eyed. Nelson unloaded a second big shot to the side of the head while referee Steve Mazzagatti was already jumping in and waving the fight off. The finish came at just 0:51 into the first round.
Nelson improved to 17-7 with the win and retains his place as a firm fan favorite with the flash win. This fight is almost certain to garner Knockout of the Night honors for Nelson.
