On Saturday, IndyCar drivers will compete for pole position in the 2012 Indy 500. Bay Area driver J.R. Hildebrand will be among those competing on Pole Day.
The 2012 Indianapolis 500 is nearly upon us. Possibly the most famous event in automobile racing, the IndyCar event will take place on Sunday, May 27. Saturday, however, marks Pole Day -- the day where drivers will qualify and the starting lineup will be set.
One of the drivers who will be competing on Pole Day is a Bay Area native. Driving the No. 2 car is J.R. Hildebrand, who hails from Sausalito. His car is sponsored by the National Guard and is powered by a Chevrolet engine. Hildebrand represents Panther Racing
The Qualifications will begin at 8:00 a.m. PT on Saturday in Indianapolis. You can watch live streaming of Pole Day on the official Indy 500 website beginning at 8:30 p.m. PT.
